Decent map system for iPhone

I’m sure that this is a very basic question but……..

……..if I want a map for iPhone that simply shows the roads around me, without my inputting a destination, what is the best one?

I tend to wander around with no fixed destination in mind but need a reliable map display that follows me and shows the surrounding area. If I see an “interesting” Road coming up I can then take it.

Are you talking walking or driving.
On my I phone I have Apple and Google maps plus Waze all of which are useful. When driving I always have navigator switched on and use the display as a constant map for reference.

You should already have a map app on the iPhone. Just called “maps” I think.
It’s very good and use it all the time.

If you get maps.me app you get footpaths as well and it’s very good.

Maps.me is excellent. Never used it on a bike though
