Love it - though it did remind me of 70's Pimp fashion

Been busy pottering about this last week. Had the angle grinder out for gentle modification of the gas locker! It only had room for 2 x 6kg cylinders, now I can fit 1 x 6 and 1 x 13kg. It was only a little bit too small and only on the lower door, so....... It worked out exactly as planned for a change! I simply made an elongated I shaped cut and bent open the sides like a door, then added 2 layers of fibreglass inside and out. I have still to prime and respray it.

I have finally finished the drivers seat base, painted and carpeted to match the other I did last year.

But yesterday was spent on the walls, how to cover the 1980's beige plastic wallcovering. We bought some wallpaper a bit back and I googled how best to stick it - as it's not recommended on plastic surfaces. In the end I scrubbed, sanded, pva'd and used a heavy duty Solvite adhesive and more than a little hope.

Anyway, after a full day to remove blinds, seat belts, solar monitor, curtain rails etc all above preparations and then hang nearly one Full! roll of paper before refitting everything - we are happy with the results. 😎

Any chance of a recent external shot, what a nice van, completely envious of your skills and determination!

I can post tomorrow, but I am not getting out of it tonight, its persisting it down outside and nothing has changed yet.... Watch this space 😎

A friend of ours bought a caravan to use on scout camps as a craft room. It was decorated with wood chip wallpaper that had been painted with magnolia emulsion .

Quick update.
Going backwards a bit now but made some bits pretty.
As posted on a separate thread, we are trying to sort the mechanical side a bit, but having fun finding someone to tackle a 35 year old wreck.... 🤔🙄😏

The wallpaper I put up, I knew it was dodgy putting it straight on the plastic wallcovering, but read up about it, cleaned it thoroughly, pva'd it first and used a thick mixed extra strong paste. It looked great for about a week but then decided to rebel.
I have touched up a little with spray contact adhesive, but its a fiddly job and you can't stretch the paper as it is a dry spray and sticks on contact - as it should! I have read that dispersion works, or might just try pva on a discrete area, the hard work of cutting all the pieces is already done....

many many years! since I was a kid
I use border and overlap adhesive when sticking vinyl paper over vinyl wall board. Not had one fail yet, but thats tempting fate. I use the best brand name ready mix version available. It is not like normal paper adhesive, more like copydex and remains flexible if you have need to redo it.

Anyway the pretty bits.
After looking for replacement "Hymermobil" badges and seeing the cost I thought I'd 'have a go' at repairing - nothing to lose!

The bonnet badge was in 3 pieces and one part regularly spun on its screw and didn't look very good.

Having some pvc sheet leftover from the bathroom walls I cut the rough shape out, and after a good scour of the old signs, PU40'd them on well.

After a good sand, fill, prime, 2 coats of cream and a very careful light roller over with the delicate shade of orange, 3 coats - I'm pleased with the results.

I have had a good practice with the paint, for the big job and saved over £100 on new bits. 👍
