I am looking to extract data from word documents etc.
I am looking to extract email addresses, phone numbers and addresses, is there some free solftware that can do this.

Its not for spamming, just to populate a database., Save a lot of typing..

I can't think of any software, either free or paid for, which would extract information like that from totally unstructured WP documents.

If the details are held within a table in the WP documents you could possibly copy it and paste it into a spreadsheet and then manipulate that so you end up with a database.

Otherwise copy & paste is probably all that you could use.

I have found that it is sometimes possible to do it by copy & paste into an Excel doc.
It will go into 1 column, then under data go to 'text to columns' see if will sort it into multiple columns.
It has worked for me in the past.

You can import files into Access. Create a new database. Select File, Get external Data, Import. I have some instructions for this - will try attaching.

Works okay when importing from Excel - not tried doing it from Word. I would think you need the data in a table first in Word.

A couple of years ago I had a disc from Serif that enabled scanning and conversion to live word documents. I believe it was when I was running XP.
I will look for the disc tomorrow and post a reply if I can find it.

Is there any structure to the Word document?
If there is, I can probably help by writing a bit of code to do it.
If you want to PM me with a bit of the document, I'll have a look for you.
