I’ve just bought a Nextbase 512 dashcam and hard wiring kit . If anyone has already fitted one would appreciate some advice on the best/ easiest routing for the cable in my 2015 9 series.
Thanks in advance

Just bought a new NextBase cam from Halfords and asked the guy about a hard wiring kit. He offered to have it fitted for £30. The kit is £20 so fitting is only a tenner......bargain.

Yes, I am having it fitted into the A Class and yes, I will be in the cab while he's doing it and keeping my beady eye on him. For £10 it saves me the hassle of fiddling about in the fuse box while not being able to see what I'm doing.

It’s really easy, mines a left handed fiat and I just tucked the cable along the side window surround, down into the dash and straight on the the cab batteries, comes on when I start up and forget about it...

Depends where you are mounting it and what feed you want to power it off... I usually power mine off an engine run signal.. and mount it where the rear view mirror would normally go...
Its Not hard to feed the wires from dash up the pillar trim and tuck in behind the head lining ...

There’s a few videos on YouTube on how too, it’s surprising what people can do once they start doing it for themselves...(y)

Out of interest did you just chop the cig lighter cable and put an inline fuse in?

No I bought a hard wire kit off fleebay...(y)

Works a treat, got a nextbase 312.. mounted top left of screen..

I’ve been trying to find a mounting kit for my cam so I can mount it on the dash and not have it record upside down :)

Did you just wire yours positive and negative straight to the battery then?
If so isn’t it running all the time?
Just curious :)

I bought Nextbase hard wire kits from eBay, with them you get a fuse holder that replaces an original fuse, in the hymer I found a fuse that's only live with ignition on and then tucked the cable under the heat duct on the dash and mounted the camera at the bottom of the windscreen.
Easy enough.

Believe me, you misunderstood.
They charge £8 to fit wiper blades....A 5 minute job for BOTH blades.
The £30 will be Labour only, the £20 kit on top of that.

It’s easy to put an inline switch on it, I just turn it off when parked up and it comes on when I turn on ignition, I leave it on when we go into shops in case something happens..

It won't be upside down.
The lens doesn't know which way is up and the data sent to the SD card is just that...date, not a picture.

Not so. Definitely told the fitting charge is £30 and they supply the kit in the price.
If it was £30 just to fit I would be doing it myself. But for a tenner it wasn't worth while me faffing about.

Richard.

How or where do you mount a camera if you have cab blinds?
The Nextbase unclips actually it just pulls off uses a magnet, leaves the base and wiring in place and if you use the adhesive mount they supply it is much smaller than the suction one (see pic).
I leave mine in place but my screen is about 14" from the blind.

One of the advantages of an A class is that there is room between the windscreen and the blinds, or at least there is in ours. Ours is on the same mount and in about the same position as @Lenny HB shows on his post. The only bit in the swept area of the screen is the bottom 40mm of the camera, which includes the lens. That is as much as you are allowed.
