Hi,
I have a question about dash cams. My Burstner is an A class with a blind that closes across the screen so I would need a dash mounted dash cam. What do people recommend?

Thanx

Although we have a C class, our blinds stop our dashcam being left mounted on the windscreen with the blinds closed, so I mounted ours on a sticky backed mount on top of the dash, fed the the power through under the glovebox and then hardwired it in via the fuse box.
The dashcam stays in situ when the blinds are closed.

Do the recordings come out upside down, or does the camera rotate the image for you?

Do you get vibrations off the dash?
On the whole nothing to speak of, unless it's bits of road like coming up to big roundabouts with the 100 yards of raised lines across the road to wake you up, oh and of course Belgium roads that rattle your teeth out.

Mine hangs from the overcab bed. I made a small metal hanger, bolted to the underside and fastened the mount to that, angling the metal to get a good view. The camera just clears the dashboard with the bed down.

Power runs up between the front and NS blinds

Mine is stick to the screen at the bottom of the dash. Internal blinds clear it easily and doesnt need removing.

This my solution, when you need to draw blinds just remove camera of mount

We use silver screens so rarely use the internal blinds. However in case the needs arises I did a minor alteration to a suction cup mount for the dashcam which is easy to remove and replace when needed. The mount is from Ram and does not fall off like cheaper versions over time.

Not the best pic,

+1 with nextbase you can turn the screen upside down (sure you can with other makes)

I have a Ram mount for my phone, using Google maps. Not cheap but a very decent bit of kit.

We use the dashcam built into the Aguri sat nav. The Ford has a spring loaded fitting on top of the dashboard which holds it all in place and very simple to remove. It records whilst still using the sat nav and we use the 9' Xzent screen as a rear view mirror.

Question... Why do we all have them? Is it predominately an RTA thing or do many of us users also review road trips?

I wanted one to review the journeys up over the Alps into Italy as you couldn't enjoy the views whilst driving. It came as a gift and then I learned it was illegal to even posses one in Austria & restricted use in many other EU countries so I can’t get the benefit that it was intended for. Having said that I had fitted front & rear to my new SUV when I realised how much wider it was, so I have less of my side of the road and how many drivers don’t keep to their side of the road, as sadly one day I expect someone to bump me ☹️
