Hi all
My 2002 Boxer's dash seems to be having a seriously funny fit.
The battery recently almost fully drained and that's now sorted, but now all 4 dials have stopped working.
The speedo has doesn't read at all, the temp gauge shoots fully to the top as does the rev counter, the fuel gauge shows near empty (even though it is totally full up) and last but not least the mileage has changed to Kms and is counting up from zero when the ignition is on.
Do I just need a new cluster?
Otherwise all is peachy.
Please help.
Many thanks in advance.

It sounds to me that you have a faulty engine gearbox earth lead to chassis. This has been on this and other forums showing fault codes and as you have seen displayed. It's a waste of time cleaning the existing earth as they can carode from the inside and the outside looks fine some have bought welding cable and soldered new eyelets and fitted this to gearbox to chassis and all worked fine.

John.

There you go Russ.

An hours Labour, (currently about £80) saved. Go on, pay your £15 subs and that will be just the beginning.

Many thanks for the advice, however I've fitted a new earth strap and nothing has changed.

Anyone else with more ideas?

Cheers.

It sound's like the voltage regulator as the battery is 13.5v aprox the dash cluster run's at 9v it look's like it's letting to much voltage through making the reading's high

Hi
Is that a specific regulator for the dash as the only ones I can find are on the alternator?
If so, do you happen to know where it is located?
Many thanks.

There is a regulator for the dash cluster you would have to take the dash cluster out normally and it is usuely on the back of the cluster I haven't done your's but that is where it normally is
