I opened an account a few years ago, but haven’t used it much, as haven’t really been down that way very much.
However, with the new van now here, have been down Ramsgate/Broadstairs way a couple of times.
Just looked at my account, and they have charged me £2-63 for each crossing (£3 less discount for account)
it’s a Consort Oslo, so a Ducato 6.36mtrs.
i have read somewhere that motorhomes are in the same category as cars, ie, £2 (£2-50 less discount).
It says goods vehicle with 2 axles for the £2-63 rate.
What do others get charged when they go accross the crossing?
many thanks.

Hi I would ring them on 0300 300 0120 and quote your account number and query it with them. It could be as a result of the description on your V5 not saying it is a motorhome and discuss it with them and hopefully they will sort any error re the charging.

We have an Auto-trail Tracker @ 7.6m and 4250kgs. Made 4 crossings in the last 4 months. Our account shows £2.50 for each crossing

I have an automated payment arrangement so they charge my bank each time we cross rather than having the PAYG type of account where you top up and get a discount. When we crossed in December we were charged £2.50.

It looks like they've got you in the wrong category so you definitely need to contact them.

£2 for our 7.5m A Class motorhome 4,500kg. Motorhomes are Class B, the same as cars.

Edit. The rate depends on what type of account you have. We top up in advance automatically.

Not sure if this is relevant but the Woolwich ferry has no charge 👏👏

And an hour in traffic on each side to get off and back onto the M25. Unless you are still using the North and South Circulars to get round London, in which case 3 hours
Ok, I bow to your knowledge, I must admit we used it to ensure we didn’t have to use the M25 when travelling from Suffolk to Dungeness last year.

Crossed with a 17 seater, 4t, 6.7m, minibus towing a loaded canoe trailer at the weekend.
£3 each way

If you check your V5 the class will be on there. We had a Vantage Cub but it was still classed as a panel van on the V5 and was class N if I remember rightly. Even when we changed it to Motor Caravan via the DVLA the class letter stayed the same. We didnt persue it though as we changed the Van.

AFAIK the tunnel does not directly use the vehicle category (entry J) or taxation class (entry X) on the V5 for setting their tolls. They have their own system. Both of our cars and the motorhome are referred to by them as "Class B"

I called them a few years ago as my van conversion was coming up as a goods vehicle even though the body type had been changed to Motor Caravan and they said it was because it was an N and not an M and its this which determined the class they use. Cant remember which entry it was on the V5. They may have changed the way they do things since then.
