We're still looking for a GSD pup. Looked at a couple of local litters recently but nothing took my fancy. Looking at another litter next week :)
There is a breeder on isle of sheppy who breeds straight backed GSD (newinolder) one of them lives a couple of doors away really friendly large GSD dog beautiful

I think this should be evidence based and nothing else.
Look at the breeds which cause serious injuries or deaths and have them muzzled and on a short lead when in public.

I guess police dogs, if they are GSD's have to be muzzled when they are in public areas as well then.
Is there legislation to back up this notice, no mention of a fine for not complying, other than the reference to picking up after your dog.
Then, the next step is to ban humans, they can be pretty dangerous too!

Surely you could never have a problem with a loveable Labrador - ask the Dog Whisperer about that.....

Dachshund! What do you mean, they are all little angels

Noisy little angels with a Napoleon complex admittedly, but still.....

Seriously though it's easier to blame the dogs than do anything about the idiot owners.

One thing we have really noticed on this trip is the amount of people who have dogs that are just TOO strong for them, drag them around by the lead and have little to no control.

It also has 10 breeds of dog on there whereby the list only has 4 and Dobermann, GSD and Ridgeback are definitely not there.

Keira is our 18 month old Dobermann and is the softest dog I've ever had. The problem I have is she is scared of all dogs after being attacked a few times as a puppy (Border Collies and Terriers).
She's so bad, she is even scared of the neighbours Chihuahua and I've had to run home after her when a little 10" tall terrier decided he wanted to play and ran after her - found her howling round the back door trying to get in while he ran around the garden !
However she's getting better and after a quick bark she is soon lounging around on any visitors we have.

I reckon Anne Robinson is a dangerous dog.

Not convinced she is dangerous but..

Why?
All those dogs if they got a grip of a kid would most probably kill them
Little terriers etc might give you a bite but extremely unlikely to do major damage so I agree with the guy what makes people think they are ideal house pets
I accept that owners in nearly all cases are to blame, however you can't trust a human so what makes you think dogs can be trusted especially dogs that can and have killed

You will hate my dog then as she eats kids. I do remember reading something about a family Jack Russel killing a newborn about six years ago. Some little bite that one was.

Don't hate any dog, and in 99% of cases all dogs don't cause any problems, my concern is the 1% chance that any dog big or small can snap and the bigger the dog the more damage it does simple
So many times when someone has been attacked/killed have you heard the owner say, that dog was as good as gold, never bite anyone, the kids used to ride on its back, it wouldn't hurt a fly, I can't understand why it did it
Personally I wouldn't take the risk

Dogs are like street furniture and motorised vehicles - a fact of life. Parents (the ones that bother to parent) teach their children about behaviour in the presence of most of life's hazards but don't often include animals unless they are in some way involved with animals themselves. Far too many children approach dogs in a manner that the animals find threatening or frightening. Most dogs on most occasions do very well to control fight or flight instincts but sometimes they don't or can't. I'm not talking about toddlers, where both parent and dog owners need to take great care, but about older children who, in general, have no idea about how to behave near animals. The rise in the number of adults killed or injured by cows (Oh Please!!!) is indicative of how little understanding most adults have of animal behaviour.

my granddaughter was bitten in the face by patterdale terrier when she 5 years old, which belonged to the guy nextdoor, she still has the scars ten years latter,i made it clear to the owner that he know what he had to do,or i would do it for him,he had it put down that day,it was not the first time the dog had bitten a child,it bit his grandchild, his excuse was the dog don't like kids!

My son was bitten by a border collie last week, puncture wounds on his upper arm and are now infected taking antibiotics and had some jabs...
He was walking past a fenced house down the road from him and the dog jumped up at the fence and got him.

Owners sitting in the garden and not bothered... Cops went round to have a word and their not doing much either...

He had to take the day of work to go to doc's and also to buy pads and cleaning stuff.... So a days wages and a ruined top and no ones bothered ....(n)

If it bit any of my kids or grand kids I can assure you it wouldn't get a second chance, if it wasn't destroyed within hours they'd better never let it out again. Bloody disgrace.

I was parked up in Tasch, Switerland. There was a minibus up to Zermatt everyday, the dogs could go in too. Got the Gornegrat railway up to the top and spent the day walking down.

First time for the dogs but I'd been dozens of times, summer and winter. Frosty in the morning and too hot to sit out by lunchtime in late September!
