A little more progress over the last few nights. It’s starting to resemble a MH again 😁

Fitting the walls back with some clamping action.

Following closely by the middle and final wall section.

once the walls had dried it was then onto fixing the floor down. I used a mixture of five minute wood glue and nails to hold the ply in place. The glue expands to fill some gaps. Before I put the floor ply down I had filled the voids with expanding foam. I did two layers to just under the wood height. Just before the final fit of the floor I added the last layer of foam. This with the glue has formed a strong bond.

The final finish looks pretty good and I’m pleased on how it turned out.

Need to jump onto the locker door surround now while the weather is holding. I will then fit new flooring, rejoin the floor to the chassis and wallpaper the walls.

Just when you think you may have seen the last of the rotten wood, another mini project pops up! - to be fair I knew it needed doing as part of the rear dampness project

The surround on the rear locker was pretty rotten

On a brighter note it did not take long to cut some treated timber and finish off this project.

This evening I have been putting the floor back in and I think it looks like nothing has happened here (unless you have read this post  )

Need to connect the back end to the chassis with the bolts shown above, Then wall paper and tidy up the glue underneath the van. Re-install the water tank and have a good tidy up.

Fingers crossed that will be the end of my dampness post :ROFLMAO:

So another project on our Bessacarr is coming to a conclusion, I wonder what job I will have to do next 😁

One wall left and a little bit to cut in, the fumes gave me a slight headache as I was using a contact spray adhesive!

need to add back the fresh water tank, support bars and tidy up a few things. Fingers crossed should be tied up on Sunday 😎

DJL220 Good job there.

Do you just use 3.6mm plywood or have you found a source for 3mm?

Ended up using 3.6mm in the end as I could only source full sheets of 3mm.
I just sanded the joins so they matched as the difference is really small.
That makes sense and is the same as I intend to do in the bathroom area. Are you using vinyl wallpaper to cover and where are you sourceing it from?

I am using vinyl wallpaper but it’s not anything like you get in an old van. I’m sourcing from B&Q, I first tried to using standard wallpaper glue, that didn’t work so I am now try contact adhesive (awaiting to see what happens). However as so little is going to be seen I’m not that worried now 😂

So this evening I have wrapped up the latest project on our Bessie. I have also added some new dimming LED front lights with USB charging points, might also add four more for the back if they are any good 😉

I treated the engine to a software update with a Synergy tuning module. Wasn’t expecting much as it wasn’t expensive, however the engine feels a lot more responsive. Will find out when towing the Fiat in a few weeks time - as long as I can get some diesel!
As for the final completion you can hardly see any of the wallpaper when the cushions are in place.

Cleaned up the water tank and pipes too.

Just need to apply some sealant underneath around the water pipes and along the edges of the repair. Then I can tick this project off of the list 😎

DJL220 That looks really good! Hopefully that's the end of your damp repairs and you can now enjoy the van!

Let us know how you find the new lights?

thanks for your posts with detailed info and photos.
i'm about to start some repairs to a 1995 swift 640.
got a few similar issues to yours around the bottom edges so your photos have been very inspirational.
you've done a great job on your MH, i'm just hoping i can get similar results with ours.

Good luck on your repairs, take you time and I’m sure all will be well. I take loads of photos so I can refer back to as the project progresses 👍

Hiya, What did you use to stick the wallpaper up - think I saw somewhere you were trying different glues - just wondering what you found to work best.

Also did you ever have to wallpaper over existing vinyl - if so how did it go?

I tried to use normal wallpaper paste which lasted for a few weeks and then started to peel. This was vinyl onto the existing vinyl wallpaper. So for the rear MH project I used contact adhesive. This has held up really well and not moved👍

77FF504D-A66D-438D-822B-2BC8885225A9.jpeg

You need to be careful not to get this on the wallpaper, I sprayed directly onto the existing wallpaper and covered up new wallpaper with cardboard whilst spraying.

How’s the project coming along now?
