Need to take m/home back to get damp attended to, 10 yr old should joints on exterior be done
And who would do it very professionaly, we are in Dorset, anybody have any knowledge on these things
Hope everybody’s well, Martin and Carol , Sherborne

90%.....oh dear, hope you have a healthy Bank balance,
I think the exterior joints are the least of your immediate problems. good luck.

I can’t help with the “who” bit but I would get it sealed up ASAP if it has only just got wet I would have thought it should dry out OK when sealed.

You don’t tell us what van or type of construction as that will determine the sealant used.

Martin

It’s going to be done under the habitation warranty we paid for, it’s a swift sundance 580 pr on a Fiat Ducato anybody
Know who could help with a good reputation, cheers Martin

90% damp?!?

Any more and it'd just be a puddle.

Aha, the well known Swift Sundance damp! Unfortunately that is a well known fault, even recognised by Swift who by now must have repaired hundreds of them. It was caused by the floor being sealed underneath but not extending properly to the edges.

Hope your habitation warranty covers it otherwise it may still be worth a call to Swift Customer Service to see what they say. But 10 years old? Wouldn't hold my breath.

Cannot recommend anybody, I believe Swift did the repairs themselves.

You could try North Coast Caravan Services,Bude, they did our Swift Caravan servicing when we stored it in North Devon, very good reputation for repairs and authorised Swift Repairers.
Hope that's close enough to you.

I would have thought it was up to the warranty providers to decide who does the repairs.
I cant see them paying top dollar to a highly skilled repairer doing a first class repair when a regular repair shop can do a satisfactory job for much less money.

We just want it put right , and also find out why the damp reading is so much higher
Than 6 or so months ago

Feel for you, if it was me I'd be very worried. Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Are you sure you are reading damp, not condensation?

Good point @jezport - I'd think at 90% you'd be seeing it, not just measuring it on a meter.

With the weather as it has been recently poor ventilation could indeed cause bad condensation - worth airing the van properly then taking readings again.

Thanks all , the readings actually came from chelston Motorhomes where we got it from, July was a 25 per cent reading
And in Oct it was 90 or so they informed us , but they do say they will rectify it, but still baffled how the readings are so different in such a short while, also we really, really do need for them to rectify the cause of the problem Martin

Good Luck, hope all goes well, keep us posted.

If Chelston have taken responsibility, then perhaps you can relax. They are big enough to deal with such things. After all they sold you the van and vans are not cheap, their mark-up on the sale should cushion the blow for them so hopefully everyone should come out OK!
