Yes yes, horse, gate, bolted I know.
Managed to catch the nearside mirror resulting in the damage in the picture. Mirror glass fell out but easily snapped back in, still working, still got the indicator intact and working. So that's all good.
Question is twofold.
1. Would I get away without replacing the housing if I put a pair of mirrorguards on?

2. Which are the best ones? Im sure I heard that there's a much better one than the milenco ones, albeit twice the price which I can live with given the alternative?

We have proper MirrorGuards and had a meeting of mirrors while going through a village in France last week.
The jousting match ended with our mirror folding in with the impact, but only a slight graze on the MirrorGuard casing and the mirror glass intact.

You can buy outer cases off ebay (y)
Easy enough to fit just make sure you get the long arm version.
Just been looking at that and a youtube vid of how to do it. Didnt realise the casing would be available seperately,
Buy the cheapest copy of mirrorguards and they will disguise it. Real mirrorguards would likely have saved it (y)

Yes, horse bolted, but think I'll replace the mirror casing AND invest in proper mirrorguards for next time

Sounds like a damn good endorsement of them.
Mirror guards are definitely worth the money. They once saved my mirror casing. 👍

I fitted some of these to our previous Ducato (short arm) and IMV they were as strong as the Mirrorguard version.

Also on Ebay:

Gave them a look over at last year's Peterborough show as I was curious if they were a match for MirrorGuards, but they lacked the internal foam padding of the MirrorGuards and the outer casing was also thinner.
Is your view that they are as strong as MirrorGuards from experience of yours taking a hard thump or do just you think that they look as strong?

We clashed mirrors last time out. We have mirrorguards and initially thought all we had was faint mark on corner. However closer inspection shows hairline crack in mirror guard casing. Any ideas on sealing/gluing crack.

Does anyoneknow what effect Mirrorguards have on DAB reception, given that the antenna is in the O/S mirror?
Also, will they fit over the ext. temp. sensor, again in the O/S mirror?

Looked to see if mirrorguards were available for my transit based mh, however on finding the fiat mirrorguards (which wont fit anyway) actually cost more than replacing the ford mirrors completely I have compromised by buying a couple of custom mirror covers at less than £20 a pair, basic black ones are from £7.99 a pair. The joys of Fords cheap parts.
When I had to replace a mirror on my Aclass Rapido it was well over £1,000

When we bought ours it was at a MH show some were able to see all types including the crappy Milenco offerings. These Seaflo ones were as strong as the Mirror guard ones and did indeed have the foam in them too. Seaflo do a cheaper version too I believe so are you sure you looked at the ones I've mentioned?

how do we know if we are medium or long arm ?

I have been meaning to order Mirror Guards for a while so this is a good reminder.

Does anyone have a discount code?

The guards saved us as well when a tractor came too close in D&G.

I have found that after 6 years there is discolouration to the white plastic exterior but I can live with that.

Still have "van ears" to put on. I was looking for the ebay link but it appears no longer to work :(

Just swapped my melenco ones for mirrorguard, I fell for the buy cheap buy twice. 🤣🤣🤣

I bought Mirror Guards when I first got the van last June. Went down to the van a couple of weeks ago and one had been nicked!! I tried to buy just one, but have had to get a new pair. In future I will take them off between trips, a faff I know, but at £140 a pair I am not prepared to risk losing more. I wouldn't be without them and believe they are the best.

OK - nearly there .....

White Mirrorguards for maximum visibility (possibly with Vanears stickers too!) or black Mirrorguards with Vanears??

Yes the Transit electric mirrors are under £30 each side.

I put a dob of silicone sealant on the front of the mirror casing before fitting the mirror guards. They now are almost impossible to remove and prevent the casual thief from removing them without a serious amount of time and effort.

Ooh! I hadn't thought of that! thanks for the tip (y)

Did you put it all the way round?

The Millenco ones are rubbish, the Proper Mirror Guards are great,,I’ve belted a few things, but no probs,,if you put them on right, they won’t come off👍👍

In my experience, they have the effect of greatly reducing the received signal strength. I found I got 'Station unavailable' frequently. I've now switched to just using FM. It's really just as good.
