Hi Everyone and thanks for any help
When reversing the MOHO a tree branch jumped out on me, causing the damage in the photo, any ideas on the best and right way to repair this 🙏 also strange there was no clear damage to see at first 😩
Cheers
Jeff

Well it’s fibreglass, it just wants a small repair and somebody who knows what they are doing might get away without needing paint.

Did you fancy having a go yourself?

One call near Preston just done a repair on mine ( gutter jumped out at me) very good job would recommend if they are close to you.

If not doing it yourself get boat repair guy to do it he will do a proper job and match the Gel coat.
If you take to a body shop they will probably spray it rather than gel coat it which is not good.

Hi and again thanks
I am from the North east so Preston is to far, I have found a repair place but can’t do it until April, so i have booked it in, the damage is presently sealed with silicone, any ideas on a temp job over the winter, the Moho will be getting used a most weekends
Cheers

Gorilla glue do some brilliant, thick, clear tape that sticks to everything. I would put that over the wound. Try not to put silicone anywhere near it as the bodywork people don’t like it as it effects their processes

I don’t want to burst your bubble but April is a long way off l would need to be absolutely sure the company you have chosen actually want to do the job.Too many variants between now and then for someone to even see that far in front.
l would be looking elsewhere whilst keeping those you have booked with in my back pocket.

Ask at a motorcycle shop who repairs fairings etc locally, they should be able to fix that.

OK Jeff one you say North East and it's an Autotrail so you could contact http://www.lamplas.co.uk I believe that they used to do all the moulding for Autotrail and at one time they had mobile engineers doing remedial work, if nothing else they might have the correct RAL number for the Gelcoat colour.

Hi, just a thought but as you're in the NE have you tried the NE Motorhome Repair Centre in Annfield Plain, near Consett? We've had a few bits done by their general workshop and have found them to be excellent. They have a bodyshop there as well for accident repairs etc. 😊

Blimey, April is a long time to wait. When we lived up there (left 8 years ago) we used to use the Caravan Clinic at Dunston in Gateshead. Always did a good job for us from a major damp repair to minor dings.

After cracking the rear bumper I now carry white duct tape. It dosnt fix it but it’s not as obvious that it’s damaged.
Note to self, must get repaired this winter.

No TVR / lotus specialists near you?

Look for a marine repair workshop

Or even bath manufacturers.

Cheers James

I think the cracked bumper is the least of my worries now. The guy that I went to on Monday for a quote to tidy up the front wheel arch phoned last night. His quote was £700.
It’s a lot less than we spent on the last van but it will need a bit of thinking about. I am going to another place in the morning. I know it 16 years old but we feel it’s worth repairing.

A lot of us have been there. Managed to clip the rear corner of mine on a large wooden planter on a CCC site reversing on to a pitch. Araldite and touch up paint has rendered it invisible at 3 metres.

It seems to memthat it is always the rear corners which are the most likely top be damaged, followed by wheel arches. Much to do with the thin plastic mouldings which are not sufficiently robust IMO.
