Following "at a watershed" we popped down to Poole for a couple of days staying over at welcoming pubs...not something we could do if tugging. (Recommend The Golden Lion at Southwick). Reinforcing liking this (relative) stop over freedom, reverting to tugging may not be for us. Another consideration to reduce outgoings (to allow more 'holiday' travelling) is to forgo the old classic A class Hymer and switch to a smaller van conversion. My question, funsters, is there anyone out there who has 'downscaled' and successfully uses mhome for daily use? I'm well used to driving vans when in a day job (another life) but can we compromise on those other things that the A class affords...at 6m long I don't struggle too much but it's the width!! Guessing many threads on van conversions v coach built but hey for what it's worth I'm beginning to think the devil you know and better to look for other revenue streams e.g. air b&B hosting (I guess another question, has anyone tried this?).

I don't think its the width you have to be too concerned about, it's more the height. Will you be able to get into the supermarket car parks etc!!

Hi.
We went from twin axle Gin palaces to PVC's a Renault Master 150,another Renault Master Both Auto (Same lay out different Builders) and now on a Fiat Ducato PVC. We managed this with a B/Collie at the beginning, despite us being the most untidy people about. No regrets, talk was about going back to a Renault Master, but the Fiat 2.3 Auto is worming its way into my heart.I.e, It does GO well when talked to properly:rolleyes:
With regard to parking, just keep your eye out for "Private Eye ?" Whatever signs in supermarket car parks, there is nearly always Park and Ride at bigger towns, sorted
