Some kind soul (sod!) has pinched one of the mirror protectors off the van while it has been in storage. It looks like you can't buy them singly so I will have to stump up for a new pair. I didn't realise until I started looking how complicated it seems to be to get the right ones for the van. I have a 2010 Autotrail Dakota. For starters are my mirrors long arm or short arm, they look long to me but are not sort of concertinaed like the pictures I saw on line. Can anyone help, and if possible recommend decent replacements. Don't know what make the remaining one is as there is no markings on it but they were really good, I know because we walloped them a few times when we first got the van!!

Base vehicle is a must have clue too---- ford, Fiat, Merc

Sorry can't help..
BUT on Fun there is no such thing as a daft question
Just a question and someone will have an answer.

It will be a Fiat and the long arm!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I should have said it's on a Fiat Ducato base so I guess it must be long arm I'm looking for! Anyone got any recommendations for replacements. I watched a youtube video on the Milenco ones and they looked a bit flimsy in comparison to the ones we originally had,

Put the spare up for sale someone will buy it👍🏼

We have these on our MH, they are "Mirrorguards", sold at at the MH shows, they aint cheap, but they are the best as many on here will know. They are very thick, and secure firmly, you need washing up liquid smothered over to fit them.
PS: the milenco, & other ones are rubbish in comparison.

Lot of debate about which to fit - the original Mirrorguards are strong and well-made but of course this makes them twice the price of the Milencos - nothing against them but IMO they wouldn't take anything like as much punishment as the originals. Mine Mirrorguards have survived several encounters with just minor scratching in situations that would have destroyed anything lesser.

Like all things, you pays your money and takes your chance. Sorry that ought to read "choice" but I think I'm right the first time. ::bigsmile:

You need the 2006 onwards version . Lots about on the Internet

Thanks folks. I think the original ones on the van must have been Mirrorguards as the one that is left fits their description. Can't be sure as we asked the dealer to fit guards for us before we collected the van. They have been brilliant as being newbies we put them to the several times!!! I will buy a new set of them. Really hacks me off that another motorhomer would pinch kit though:mad:

Better get used used to it.
Over the years I have had various bits n pieces go walk about... both as a caravanner and moho'er.

Good thought Vipar.

In fact, on that basis.. Have you googled private sales on e bay. Someone else might be in the same boat and selling one.

Don't be in a hurry to sell the old one, the thief might need to replace his other side at some point ? :(

Its a shame that you cannot buy just the one from Mirrorguard, as many have discovered they will only sell them in pairs.
Theft is something that has occurred in the past, to others, bloody annoying, but what can you do, there will always be scumbags out there.

Our storage yard, a CaSSOa Gold, specifically states that they will not be held responsible for theft or damage and when we first stored there asked for a copy of the insurance too.
