Bill - where did we both go wrong? Why is it that 'kids' these days have no clue (or interest) about fixing things, decorating etc ?
Spoling them and doing everything for them I was brought up as poor as a curch mouse made a fortone and was very welthy during there up bringing
Went bankrupt
That never needed to do anything or make do like I did as a kid I wanted a bike I made one that wanted a bike I bought one

Hello all,

We have been fortunate with our son.

I once, a long time past, owned a car repair garage where my son used to love working with me.

At ten he was the Fire-Watcher whist I welded cars.

At twelve he could weld cars.

By the time he left school for university he could mechanic with the best of us.

He still does bits on our RV and Campervan - I put it all down to good training...

Regards,

Your thread takes me back to my days of scrap yard hunting and "side of the road" MOT preparations every year.

Definitely don't miss them!

However, still repair the habitation equipment when needed... can't understand how non DIY folk can manage to run their motorhomes.

Far worse and MUCH more expensive??

Because they have us mugs to do it for them whilst they bugger off and enjoy themselves

We moan, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
My youngest granddaughter reckons "If Grandad can't fix it no one can" and my Daughter thinks even the lowest level of DIY can only be done by Dad.

I've done all my DIY.
It now stands for "Don't Involve Yourself!"
