I'm a newbie
A lot of MH are now fitted with a dab radio which is great unless you enjoy your collection of CDs, is it best to change radio or find a free standing CD player.
Has anyone had / got this problem / delema ?

I.ve put all my CDs on a memory stick and play them through that - no doubt it has saved some weight but it is nowhere near as convenient if you are looking for a particular album or track as ytou have to scroll through the lot.

The DAB radio does give better sound quality (though that is marginal when travelling in a van!) but it does rely on having a good signal as it son vanishes completely if the signal is anything less than good.

Radio nowadays, CDs are old had.
You can get thousands of tracks onto a memory stich which weighs as much as a butterfly, win win.

I have all our cd collection backed up on iTunes and download them onto an old iPod nano which we then Bluetooth to the head unit.

Get Spotify. Tried it yesterday, lost signal just once in 90 minutes. Also tried Radio App via phone and that performs better than thetDAB add on box I am trying, but suspect it needs a better aerial than the cheap window one it came with

Bin the DAB they're rubbish (I KNOW some people who use the m think they're the beesknees )

You can get a head unit in either 1 or 2 DIN with the ability to play
MP3 via USB (Memory stick )
or SD Card
or CD
a Standard international FM /AM Radio
they even come with a 7 inch screen (I prefer our flip up one)
which allows you to watch DVD's or Video via USB
has integral Sat Nav with Free Updates

and pay only around £100

Thanks for your comments,
By using a memory stick do you have to scroll through every thing to find a certain track ?

The only radio station I listen to is only on DAB. So chosing my last car and the MH on order, DAB radio was high on the list, no CD.

But DAB is a very variable signal prone to drop outs that I never experienced with FM. Even locally on my 1.5 mile between home and office, in two different cars that had DAB I get drop outs at a set of traffic lights and then later as I pass a certain shop. Maybe they have dodgy electrical settings. But then there is also a virtual loss of signal on the M3 dual carriageway bit after the A308 abd Winchester and if you did the alternative A31 past Alton, you'll lose signal completely.

I used to use CD in an older vehicle, but that got frustrating you'd heard the one CD, wanted something else and were juggling cases from the passenger glove box at 70mph. Not a safe idea.

These days I still want music in my hands and buy the CD. But first thing is burn to a hard drive and then I can listen on any shared media system in the house, and copy to USB stick, phone, tablet, laptop where you can have loads of stuff, playlists, randomise, and all sorts.

If you have a reasonable amount of data available with your phone package, try simple radio, which is a free app, connected via bluetooth to your stereo, there are about 45000 stations from around the world playing just about every genre of music and the sound quality is excellent.

The other thing you can do via bluetooth is google play music, if you have your CD collection stored on your PC, play music will find them and make them available to stream to your phone and via bluetooth to your stereo.

DAB certainly doesn't give better sound quality
Mine does - super impressed! (y)

Came ready-installed in the van nearly 3 years ago, and can't believe how good it is around the UK. Obviously, not so abroad, although the other frequencies work well too; so comfortably get Radio 4 on long wave until about mid-way down through France - never had that in a vehicle before. :)

Suspect it's as much to do with the quality of the aerial - no idea if my set-up (Pioneer) is standard Fiat, or put in by the converter - Rapido?
