Boing boing, Big Cyrille Regis in my opjnion one of footballs greats, not for how good he was after all his main career was with a couple of small midlands football teams wba and coventry, but he was playing at a time when black players were taking awful abuse and he and a few others lived and rose above that abuse, I have to say I never hear racial abuse of players at matches ( I wear earplugs) seriously football stadium are much nicer places these days. RIP Cyrille Regis

No disrespect to WBA, I class West ham in the smaller club class, the difference between west brom and west ham, is that west ham won the world cup (HURST 3goals MOORE captain PETERS the other goal) but winning nothing since 1981 means we are a smaller club, but thankyou for paying for our new ground with your taxes

Another Villa great Jimmy Dugdale birthday today, the same as mine.
On this day in 1932, Jimmy Dugdale was born in Liverpool.

Dugdale had the distinction of winning the FA Cup with two different West Midlands clubs.

He was in the West Brom side that beat Preston 3-2 in the 1954 final and three years later he helped Villa to a 2-1 Wembley victory over Manchester United.

The dependable central defender had moved from The Hawthorns to Villa Park for £25,000 in February 1956 and went on to make 255 appearances for the club.

He was also a member of the Villa side that won the inaugural League Cup in 1961.
