Fitted the battery to SWMBO bike this morning dead nothing much sadness.

It has a button you can test how full it is and shows zero.

I checked the fuse and that's ok.

Does anyone know if you can fix these batteries or am I in for a new one and mucho expese?

It's a Roodog bike and battery picture for clarity :)

My previous experience left me with a hefty bill of approx £300 to replace the battery I'm afraid. My own fault as I had failed to put it on charge every month when it wasn't in use.
How long have you had the bike as it may still be under warranty. Good luck

Can you check to see if your charger is actually charging the battery?

L-ion shouldn't need charging every month best stored 75% charged then they should be fine for months & months.
Our Bosh ones would charge fully recently unless you when through several discharge cycles with them and wife's one sometimes wouldn't talk to the motor.
Latest software upgrade sorted both problems, there was an upgrade for the motor, display and battery.

Back to the OP's problem may be a fault with the electronics within the battery, e-bike shop should be able to integrate it.
There are some videos on You Tube of replacing the internal cells when I looked about a year ago it was just as cheap to buy a new battery for £500.

Ok so make sure non of the copper pins in the base of the battery are bent or mishapened as well as ckecking the contacts or lugs that the battery sits on are clean and straight(y)

Had one like this on my previous bike (Freego) the lights on the top of the battery stopped working but the battery still performed well. If the charger light has turned green overnight then I suspect the battery is ok, I think it would be showing red or amber if the battery had not taken a charge. Have you tried it on the bike? My bike showed full charge on the handlebars even though the battery lights showed nothing, worked fine like this for some years.
Need to be careful not to short anything out if you take the battery top off but I think there is the odd wire that might have become detached.

All pins ok and clean. Tried it on the bike switched on via key but nothing showing at the controller on the bars.

I hate electrics and electronics. Give me something I can spanner any day of the week.

@Pausim please see above (y)

Wire could have come off the back of the key switch? This might fit with charger appearing to charge but nothing at the bike or on the battery lights. Perhaps try voltmeter probes in charging socket, if there is a reading here but not at the battery base it could be consistent with loose wire or switch problem.

Check the battery output pins with a meter?

I did meter the outputs
There are two positive and two negative

I get a reading of just over 4v from the one positive onto both negative.
Zero off second positive.

@Pausim ill try the charger a bit later as well will let you know

Thanks for the replies really helpful

You should have a red light on the battery charger this will eventually turn green. Could take some time if it's completely flat as they are only a 2 amp charger. Could take 5 hours to fully charge a battery. Lots of small cells inside that can be replaced. Have a look at the http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/ .. If you go to the forums there is someone on there who repairs battery packs. If you do a search you should come up with something.

Probably just a loose connection. Best to have a fiddle, then keep fiddling. If that don't work have a fiddle.

Thanks for that.
Just tried the charger and I'm getting a reading but it's nothing I recognise. That's more me than the charger I would say though.

Plugged the charger in and it's just glowing green and not red as if it was charging.

I'll do a bit of open heart surgery on the battery to see if there's any thing loose.

Thanks for the pointer re fixing the battery I'll have a look see.

Did I mention I hate electrical faults

Just be careful poking around near the battery terminals, they can fizz and go pop rather violently if you short the pins.

Do you take the battery off the bike often as that can cause problems. I used to take them off every time I put the bikes in the van, apparently what happens is the battery electronics don't sync up with the motor and the display. As I said a software upgrade sorted ours.

@Lenny HB yes always take the battery off both bikes :(

@Coastal Cruiser. it did cross my mind as I'm an engineer but resisted :D

As an update
I stripped the two ends off
The end with the led gauge all seemed good.
The end with the connections on and switch all appeared ok.
I fiddled with the lock ;) and hey presto alls working (y).
So it looks like the lock/switch is iffy.
Thanks for everyone's input looks like 300 bar saved for now.
