I’m about to order a new mattress from Custom Size Beds for our island bed and know that quite a few members on here have done the same but I’m unsure whether to opt for the firm upgrade. Has anyone ordered the firm option and if so what do you reckon ?
My back can be a bit iffy sometimes so think the firmer the better

Can't remember which one I ordered but it's a bit too soft. Have you asked them for some samples?

That’s a good idea but it’s interesting to know that yours was a bit too soft, that’s what I am concerned about

Well, I have a matress made by them, still in box, gets unrolled this afternoon, I will tell you then. It's a orthopaedic so should be fairly firm.

Well it fits well, and appears firm but not excessively so, until I've slept a couple of nights you cant really be sure.

I’m looking to order a CustomSizeBed mattress for our Globecar 600 L revolution - its a big one.
We find the stock foam mattress too uncomfortable (it is just foam) - we went to IKEA to try memory foam mattresses out and felt Med Firm was what we both preferred… but we need a complex shape.
our van mattress is 12cm thick and I’m trying to work out if we would be OK getting the Med firm ComfortCell Cool in Med-Firm, or if we need to go to the Firm upgrade due to its thickness
the mattress sits on a wooden slatted base

you can see the 12cm mattress sits flush with the side cushions with the bed at full drop, but that said, we almost never sleep with the bed fully down, as we keep our expensive bikes in the garage beneath when we sleep, so the bed is usually about 15cm above the ”fully lowered” position, so there is a step ad either edge, but that doesn’t bother us and the belt system is there anyway.

we could go thicker (maybe to 15cm) but we would need to raise and re upholster the side bolsters then as they lie flush at 12cm.

any experience on the different mattress types and thicknesses?
stick at 12cm with the Med- Firm?
