I am looking for for a battery trickle charger that will self connect after a power interruption.
I have a couple of cheap £15 ish chargers from Aldi, they work well enough but need manually
connecting after a power failure.

Does anybody know if the Ctek will do this? Thanks John.

My Ctek MX5 starts from the beginning of the phases when power is interrupted. It retains the battery type so apart from re-starting the sequence it just gets on with it.

As above, just set up battery profile, and let it get on with its 3 stage charging.

It runs a few preliminary tests when the power comes back on, and if the battery is already fully charged it steps through the bulk and absorption stages very quickly, to get to the float stage. I have two - one for the car left on the drive when we are away, and one for the scooters we take with us (it has a motorcycle mode as well as a car mode).

I have a few of these CTEK, for maintenance charging I use the smallest one , something like 0.5 amp
For charging I use the MX5 5amp
Consider using the connector leads that have 3 LEDs in the socket to show the battery status

I found that there is some variation in the float voltage between otherwise similar CTEKs.

I have one CTEK with a float of 13.45v, and another of 13.95v. I guess they're both within tolerance (but don't know what tolerance they're supposed to operate within).
