Hello everyone. We are a family of five travelling to Croatia for November and December.
I recall reading a thread about longer term campsites but I cannot find it 😕
Can anyone please suggest any great campsites for families that offer longer term pitches as reduced rates?
Were super excited.
Thanks everyone in advance for your advice.
🙂

I've just found quite a few on Pitchup.com that are open all year, some great locations both coastal and inland. Best of luck and enjoy your adventure, Croatia is beautiful.

:hiya:
If you haven’t already done so, purchase the apps, Search for sites and Camper contact. Well worth the money and you can view sites on a map, see user reviews and photos, get details like facilities and dates open.

Thanks all. Yes I know the normal sites and apps and use them regularly.
Ideally I'm looking for longer term recommendations 😊

I think none of the campsites in Croatia will be busy in fact a lot will be closed. But if you find one open just negotiate your own long term rate. I'm sure they'll be fine with that.
Nearly all the sites in Croatia are of a high standard.

What's the weather like in November and December?

Just checked and this ACSI site on the outskirts of Split is open all year 18€ it says at the member rate but I’m sure you may get cheaper.

Camping Stobrec Split ****
Sv. Lovre 6
21311 Stobreč
Croatia
GPS: N 43°30'15" E 16°31'34"

We spent 3 weeks there a few years ago waiting for a specific site near the lakes to open. It is great for families, fantastic shower facilities, 2 beaches one private & one immediately outside the gate. Restaurant, large new pool. Easy selection of shops on foot & very much larger supermarket a cycle ride away. Split very close, which is fantastic place to visit, and easy access on bus and onward to other nice places to visit too if your too big to take the van. Overall we loved it & I think it would be an excellent place for a family to spend some time. Importantly it has 16A electric with water & waste on alternative pitches where we pitched
Check it out

Want it be quite cold and wet. We have been to Croatia many time and come late October it gets quite chilly, we even had snow inland and we were not that high!

Hi all. Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Made it down to krk. But it's solid rain here 😔 half of my mind is to break for somewhere warm... Turkey? 🤔

Haha. Agreed but we have to be out of the schengen areas after brexit, and Morocco doesn't seem to be in the cards at the moment...

Croatia and Schengen. Looking to the possibility of (subject to Covid and if I ever get my licence from DVLA mid June and still waiting. Of going down to Portugal for around 75/80 days ravelling up to Croatia keeping 5/6 days to get back to the UK.
not having been before is mid march on weather wise too early to go there. Also what about insurance whilst getting there is there any special requirements. Not sure of the best route from the Med coast? As I understand it Croatia has applied to Join the EU but is not a member yet so how to get passports stamped on entry and exit?

Driving ? It's quite a drive from Portugal to Croatia and March is likely to be cold and wet I think.
'insurance whilst getting there' not sure I understand what you mean ?

Bessy765 I think you have a few misconceptions about Croatia which I shall try and help with. 😊

Yes Croatia is NOT Schengen but has applied to join and is supposedly joining in 2022 but nothing confirmed as yet.

Croatia is part of the EU now & has been for a long while. It is not in the Euro zone & still has manned borders like us.

I think your insurance will generally cover all EU countries now.

No special requirements as far as I am aware other than Coronavirus requirements at the time you go.

Portugal to Croatia is a good journey, depending on where you are in Portugal I would head for French Spanish border at Perpignan. Then follow Mediterranean coast to Italy border. Then straight across to Trieste, cross Slovenia by the short non motorway route and into Croatia. I suspect March would be pretty cool to be fair. I’ve generally gone there early May and it’s been very pleasant but it’s not hot like Spain for instance & subject to storms/rain. Having said that we love it

I thought you had to cross briefly a border but might have got it wrong as in a short hop between a particular country.
