Going to Croatia and possibly Romania early May (6 mtr van )and don't want to pay for expensive tunnels like Mont Blanc or expensive motorways.Would like to use two different routes there and back if possible. Any one got a good route?

Thanks for that I will follow that up (not very good on ferries though) but sounds worth a try.Sorry for other post.Reguards Chris. We had 2 trips in the last couple of years, the first to croatia, the second to Romania. Both wonderful trips. We sailed Hull to Rotterdam on both, which is an excellent overnight crossing, and gets to the Europort about 8.30 am. From there drive through the netherlands and germany, no tolls or tunnels. After that for croatia we went through Austria for which you do need a vignette and there could be tunnels but they are not massively expensive . Take the time to look around Slovenia which is a lovely country. On the second trip we went through Czech, slovakia and hungary to romania. Again you do need vignettes but they are not hugely expensive. Stoke on trent to Hull is a nicer trip than to Dover, its a dearer crossing but you do save some miles.

Bit late replying but Switzerland is worth a lot more than CHF40. It has stunning scenery. Not a cheap place but worth a few nights and ACSI does work in a few places in my experience.Interested in that route-don't want to pay nearly 40 euro just to pass through Switzerland. Will be taking about 7 days to get to Croatia with 6mtr PVC .Thanks Chris.
