Lots but slow learner.
From a safety point of view has anyone driven Croatia to Bulgaria, visa versa in their MH in the last few years.?
It's an idea and plan i am putting together IF what i am hoping for transpires.

I've been to Croatia in our van a couple of times and loved it, great roads, great scenery, very cheap and nice people. Most of the campsites are huge and we struggled to find small sites but when we did they were great, 5m from the sea and beer delivered to your pitch on arrival. I have no idea if wild camping is practical as we had our young daughters with us so stuck to sites.
I can't help with Bulgaria but a few people I know have ;oved the skiing there.

I don’t suppose you can remember the sites you stayed on near the sea.

Hoping to make the trip next year.

Thanks for that 1ten. DiL is from Sofia. She has a place in Bansko that is becoming increasingly popular with winter skiing. Been a few times. And so cheap.

This was the best one, I've never seen such clean toilets, not much else around it though. The owner genuinely carried our first beers to the pitch as a welcome :drinks:. The local restaurants were very good as were the Street side kebabs. everywhere was clean and friendly.

Hi Alan, we’re going Croatia next year, staying at Valamar Camping Skrila, Stara Baska (Krk) and have a beach pitch for 6 nights R&R👍

That looks amazing

The coast is peppered with campsites so you'll have no trouble finding them.
The site at Stara Baska on Krk was a favourite of mine, I think it's the only one there.
I used ACSI but they usually give a discount if you ask and have't got the book.

Don’t expect miles of sandy beaches, most are stony. There are some interesting towns in the interior of Istria, Hum was our favourite. Also the two national parks of Plitlivka and Krka are well worth a visit.
Wild camping is illegal in Croatia.

We visited Croatia in 2018 and had a great time, would love to make another trip, the link above is probably the cleanest site we’ve ever visited

We wild camped all the way around Croatia (unaware that it was illegal, but ignorance is no defence) about 8 years ago without any problems and we really enjoyed it. Things may have changed since we were there because I remember the beachside campsites were very expensive and we only ever used them when we needed to do laundry.
Near the Bosnian border there are still mine fields ... or maybe they put those signs up to stop us from wildcamping (?). It didn't stop us!
Croatian drivers are scary, especially on the twisty coastal roads. Keep looking in your mirror 'cos they overtake on bends.

No we didn’t get there this year, just kicked it into next June🤯🤯
Yes 3 weeks, week down, week there and a week back👍
That looks nice, how do you get onto the Island?
As Just smiffy says, over the bridge👍

So MHing and more to the point MHing in Croatia AND Bulgaria is fine and safe then?
I have driven cars in both, in Bulgaria with in laws. They don't know anything about MHing and it's associated, hence the question. Ditto Croatia (but you have clarified Croatia is fine).

Most of the ones we stayed at were by the sea, but the smaller ones seem to usually be called autocamps, a quick google of Croatia autocamps will bring lots up. There are lots along the A8 coastal road, Senj was a standout for us.

We've done Croatia and the former Yugoslavia many times so know the country very well. Think twice about the islands as you will pay good money on the ferries and we found most of the islands just the same as the mainland. Also don't be tempted to stay around the Istrian peninsula as the southern sections are far more beautiful. We did Dubrovnik many times before the cruise ships started to visit, its nice but I personally wouldn't go back. If you like little laid back places then Zaostrog is a must. I have given you a link to the section of my blog that covers our last trip. There are 3 pages of info so scroll down to the bottom of each page and click on 'older post'. Also click on photos to enlarge. I'm sure you'll find this helpful as we tended to only use Acsi sites. If you are really interested you could look at the pages before and after this section to see our stop offs in other countries. http://lightningtours.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2018-10-07T23:06:00-07:00&max-results=7

Quite a lot of sites we're on Acsi last time we went (2018?) But some were a bit Ryanair with extra charges to pump up the acsi rate.

somebody on here has commented on visits to Bulgaria, might be Snowbird ?

Bulgaria is very safe and welcoming to all visitors these days, motorhoming is becoming ever more popular and wilding is the norm here with not so many formal sites although this is changing. Everything is much cheaper ( if you stear clear of the tourist hot spots ! ) Help is always at hand from fellow campers when needed. Do obey the speed limits as our traffic police are quite enthusiastic ! The road conditions are not what you will be used to and the driving skills can be entertaining but you soon get used to it. I have lived here in Bulgaria for more than fifteen years and regularly tour with my RV without problems, LPG available everywhere in Eastern Europe. Anything else you need to know about, just ask.

Must have had your eyes closed AutoCamper stops all down the coast at around €10 a night inc. EHU.
Beaches are a bit rubbish, pebbles which in the Russian era they poured concrete on top of.

Yes, I remember most of Croatia appeared to be covered in concrete.

Great, just what i was hoping to hear. As previously mentioned i have driven in Bulgaria from Sofia to Bansko and back several times so know the pitfalls. I, and my in laws were and are not sure about MHs and associated.
Thank you.
