If scanning, scan at only 100 dpi resolution. That's all that's needed to be read on a screen.

Also, reduce the image width (somehow) to about 1000 pixels.

Save in JPEG/JPG file format.

Try loading it into MS Paint. It's a very old windows program but it will let you save files as small Jpegs

If you have a Mac you should have 'Preview'.
Just drag a photo/scan on to your desktop, double click on it and it will open in Preview. Go to Tools, click on 'Adjust size' and Bobs your uncle.
No need to download any other programs or apps.

We filled in our application and received acknowledgment on 25th January. Still no sticker arrived.

If anyone has successfully applied, how long did the sticker take to arrive?

I did my application last week. I scanned page 2 only of the V5 on the lowest possible definition in Black and White, no problem with file size. They have confirmed it has been accepted and the sticker is on its way.

Can’t remember how long it took, but they should have emailed you an image PDQ which I believe is acceptable until the hard copy arrives.

I took a photo of it and then used Paint to reduce it. I think the sticker took about 10 days to arrive.

I can't see how charging about £3.50 helps the environment, surely it hardly covers admin costs. The only thing I can imagine is that this system gets all our details on the French data system therefore saving the need to contact a country's dvla . Much easier to collect parking or speeding finds, or am I just cynical.

The £3.50ish is just an admin charge. The system is designed to regulate entry of lesser or greater-polluting vehicles into urban zones at certain times.

The data can't be used to collect unrelated fines - there's a limited number of offences for which one country can apply to another re the DVLA information.

I think you're just cynical....:D

It would be advantageous should your screen get replaced.

The Crit Air sticker is double sided.

You can stick it to a windscreen or to the bodywork. In the latter case it would be subject to weathering or a passing vandal.

At the cost involved it is not worth worrying about. Even the application process is simple.

Sticker is virtually impossible to remove and if damaged is not valid. I assume it's worth keeping the confirmation letter as that is valid I believe. At least with a properly issued sticker the police will know you are entitled to be in whatever zone it might be. With new zones planned for U K and expansion in London it going to get increasingly difficult to know who should or shouldn't be there.
