In preparation for my upcoming adventure to the Algarve for the Festive Season, my trusty, mature Hymer is at "Rui's Garage" for fresh oil and filter, greasing of steering and prop shaft and general check up.

The source of the intermittent water leak has been located... worn water pump (after only 30 years and 200,000 kms... bloody disgrace) and a new one is arriving after lunch.

So... in the last week I have had to fork out...

€260 for insurance. :(

€150 for car tax. :(

and now whatever the bill is going to be here...

Thank goodness for my £10 Christmas Bonus. (y)

More later...

He does not like any meat from animals/ birds with two legs, so chicken is out, and not minced meat, steak and ale is good or just steak, but you can never find those options at the cheapy shops.

Your living too high on the hog JJ. You will never get that mini digger throwing money away like that. Still, you have the lettuce season to look forward to, that should help boost funds.

Where do you get this bonus please? Why have I not got one? :(

Can't believe it was introduced in 1972 and is still the same.
From The Telegraph in 2009:
When it was launched by Ted Heath's Tory government in 1972, the bonus payment was worth £98 in today's money. The £10 Christmas boost was then worth more than the £6.75 basic state pension.

How very, very kind of you.

Only if you can buy steak and ale, or mince beef and onion, or mince beef and veg at £1 each... then I would love a dozen to keep me going!

FB chicken and snake and pigmy are £1 at Poundstretchers, bargain !!! :xThumb:

Sadly, as posted above, I can't touch kidney or chicken...

Man Plans And God Laughes.

The supplier sent the wrong water pump, so I am spending the night outside the garage.

I have been given an estimated bill...

Change oil and filter.
Change fuel filter.
Grease steering and prop-shaft.
Supply and fit new water pump.

€200.

I have checked with my financial department and apparently, if I reduce my intake of burgers, pork pies, bacon and sausage sarnies and lumps of lamb over the Festive season, I will just about survive.

It still hurts though...

We have given our Grandson our allowances, the reason is that he has waited for 6 weeks ( and still not got) his universal credit, nothing coming in at all for him and missus, only child credit for the kids. They have to pay up front for the Gas and electric prepaid meter, at the most expensive rate that companies can devise.
It was minus 6 today. I have been paying out from my savings for weeks now, for their living expenses.
So just be thankful that a disaster did not overtake you. I think that there are a lot more on here, doing this as well for one or more of their family members.
