Any ideas, 2004/2005 model, sometimes it may stay lit but most of time it keeps going out, if we don’t shut the door fully it stays lit?

If you’re still at Blue Dolphin, have a walk/ride into Filey and try the Cobblers Arms. Nice little real ale spot.

Sounds like a small pilot light which may not be on the thermocouple enough. Give the pilot a blow out. If that don’t work then new thermocouple.

But why doesn’t it go out with the door not fully snecked shut though?

Only a thought but maybe air coming in is moving flame across the thermocouple. ?
Try checking location of the thermocouple ( when it's cold !!) To make sure it's in the flame and not been knocked / moved 👍
