Possibly an alternator problem - how old is it? Intermittent sparking on the slip rings on the rotor can be to blame.

Thanks, Brian.
Would you expect that crackling to be present with the engine running only, or in any event if it's an earth problem?
I'll try to figure out how the radio comes out.
usualy a suppressor,,,you used to be able to get a in-line suppressor dont know if you still can, sorry,,,
Well you are saying it's only with the engine running.
To slide it out you need a tool, two U shaped pieces of wire that you insert into four small ( 3mm ) holes in the facia. Ebay or Halfrauds.

John, drop off at any car shop and buy an in-line power filter. You just fit in into the radio main power supply line. It sounds that you may have a diode going down in your alternator, which can cause an interference crackle, that goes faster as you rev up. I have even heard of this problem setting up a radio (5th) harmonic, whereby the set itself transmits the crackle for short distances around the alternator, and then receives it's own signal back, putting it over the speakers. :thumb:
Do you have a wireless reversing camera?

Have you fitted any LED Vehicle Running Lights?
Some of the LED Units will affect the radio reception causing a loud, distinct hissing noise which will go away when the lights are switched off.
I had a problem with crackling in the cab.
My solution was to ban roast pork sandwiches from the cab area.
Immediate solution.
Hope that helps:thumb:
