Had to happen one day ,my shower tray is cracked all around the plughole ,have superglued it and it's held for two weeks but will have to replace .Was thinking of buying the tray and fitting myself ( Bit of a handyman don't you know ) wife says I'm a Bodger
Anyway has anyone replaced theirs and is it possible or should I apply for a mortgage and send to the dealer

There is a firm that will repair your tray at your home.Speedcoat. Funsters will tell you many have used their services and they come highly recommended.

If you can get the tray out, which I presume you will have to at some time anyway; then fibreglass kit is the answer: your repair on the underside can be proper bodger but it will be tough, very strong and unseen.
I have repaired several bits ..cracked broken internal door panel, sliding door step surround and they are rock solid.

Years ago I had a British caravan with the same problem. I researched the original shower tray manufacturer only to find they had stopped trading. However a couple of resourceful ex employees retained the moulds and made a drop in tray that made the resulting repair much stronger. It was cheaper than the equivalent of Speedcoat at the time. They came to my house and did the repair. So it might be worth a bit of research if you can locate the original shower fabricator?

Another vote for Speedcoat - our Carthago had a slight crack while still under dealer warranty. Go European gave us the option of either Speedcoat or a replacement tray (which would have necessitated removing some of the furniture round the shower. We were about to go away on a long trip to Europe (remember them??!) so opted for Speedcoat, and haven't regretted it.

+1 for Speedcoat. Replacement was not an economic option, even if I could have got the kit.

+2 Speedcoat
They seem to have a minimum average charge of Circa £300+ per tray mine was a single small tray @£325.
Almost undetectable repair But a noticeable change in texured finish that appeared to be non slip.

We used Stuart Hopton Caravan repairs in north wales to speedcoat our wet room shower base. Excellent product and comes with lifetime guarantee. He came to our house in Stockport took him two days as it wasnt drying quickly and no extra charge £350 ish from memory.

Another vote for Speedcoat. We paid £340 at the end of 2018 for a full repair to our Burstner shower tray as it had the same problem as yours. Job done in a day with lifetime guarentee.

As another option to Speed Coat and if you did want to explore the replacement option, Derek Justice made a replacement sink for my Hymer at half the cost of an 'original' replacement plus it was also strengthened to stop it happening again.

He doesn't have a website but give him an email/call to see if he can help....

Try the superglue mixed with bicarbonate of soda thing that was on here pre christmas ??!! { I am desperate to try it but nothing needs fixing at the moment xxx ] It certainly looked great ....

If it is literally just around a recessed plug hole I have on a couple of occasions been successful with a little repair,

Hopefully the drawing is better than any description I could give, basically take out the metal strainer, cut a washer with chamfered sides that fits just inside the radius curve of the moulded tray, bodge under the washer with sikaflex and then re-assemble.

Just a note of caution. The guy who did ours said his worst problem was folk who had made "temporary" repairs, most often with silicon sealant which was a real problem (not quite what he said!) to get off as the coating wouldn't "take" if there was even the smallest amount present.

Have done one or two ,the main problem i have found is most have voids around the underside and very thin .
Being the ćause of the cracking.
I put a 10mm spade drill hole to the surround ,and sqirted in some cheap expanding foam to fill voids (don't overdo it or the tray will be level with the loo seat overnight:LOL:
Then after a clean up and fill crack with west system epoxy or 2 pack flo coat any paint powder can be added to colour match the tray (trial and error)when mixing 2 pack
Then build up to required thickness with small craft paint brush
If your good at DIY an easy much cheaper fix than the above mentioned . Worked for me .

My mate had just used speedcoat in his caravan from the pictures they’ve made a top job
cost him 400 quid done in a day on his storage pitch
