Hi all, after a few motorhome holidays, we bit the bullet and bought a ex-rental motorhome.
It's parked on my drive and i was wondering if i should invest in some type of cover, having a quick google, i can get anything from a custom build cover, something that just covers the roof or basically buy from tarp and strap it down myself.

I assuming the tarp will just protect the roof from bird poo and water pooling around seals etc.

I'd like to get something on it fast, so leaning towards on buying a large tarp (~740x232). Any recommendations where i might buy something like that?
Or this this dead money, and should i fork out for generic box shaped one?

Thoughts appreciated.

Don’t get a tarp.

They aren’t breathable and will encourage damp as well as scratch the Motorhome to death.

The proper covers from the likes of protec are the best as they are breathable. I am still of the view that they are best left without a cover and just leave the windows on vent.

This subject has been covered (pun intended) on here umpteen times and although you will get a few yes's the overwhelming advice will be no don't cover... IMO covers cause more damage than the elements ever will.

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Do you cover your car?
I don't use a cover but maintain some ventilation of my m/h and open the doors and windows wide on fine days, closing it up in the evening after the warmer and more moist daytime air has been replaced by the cooler and usually dryer air at ambient temp. Mine's in my drive but not so convenient for those in storage but I still wouldn't use a cover..

Welcome from Ciren! (y)
We don’t cover ours, but try to leave it angled so that water runs off the roof........

The problem for us, being around a green area and bordering industry. IF not driven, it gets full dead leaves, branches and even fireworks. Also bird muck, squirrel crap along with green algae and industrial dust.

Means I have to get up on top and clean it at least twice a year.

Saves me having to do that and protects the roof, plastic roof vents, solar panels and satellite dish.

Cover mine, with a specialised cover, because of close trees and occasional bird droppings. Made to measure and never had any damage but has prevented damage.

Ah there is another controversial issue....dehumidifiers... again some swear by them but going by past posts on here most think they are a waste of time and actually makeing matters worse.... again I am also in the anti humidifier brigade
as already seeing water in the dehumidifier we put in.

Powered Dehumidifiers are a waste of time, they are just pulling in damp air through the vans vents from outside, use the cushion type ones that you dry in the microwave and put them in the cupboards near the vents and dash vents but leave the vents open

As above - you are probably trying to dehumidifiers the whole street.
Just leave the front van vents open and on re-circ and open a roof vent at the rear a little.

This is after a coat of embellish, and it stays like this a long time, dirty road spray just rolls off, really good for salty conditions

When we got our first MH I got a breathable roof cover an despite strapping it with all of the straps, after one winter of use it had made the above cab bodywork very dull with the slight movement of the cover in the wind, not used a cover since.
