Hi All,

Any ideas where I can get a cover for my 2017 Kia Picanto when towing?

So annoying to get back after a little rain to a very dirty car and have to clean all the windows before it can be used.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

Chris

Morning Chis...

I had one of these when I towed a dark blue Peugeot behind a Yank Tank all over Spain and Portugal...

Used to clip it on tight.... but still ended up "T" cutting the bonnet when we got home...

The constant chattering of the cloth on the bonnet took the polish completely off.. No matter how tightly it was fitted...

After that..... a bucket of water and a sponge did us.. (y)

Or a trailer...

My VW Up toad also gets plastered At this time of year. I have been wondering whether a skirt across the back of the motorhome would help, mud flaps alone don’t seem to do much. From what old-mo says at #3 the chattering cover seems to do more damage than good. Generally we put up with a filthy car until we get home and just wash the windows, lights and number plate.

Interesting thought and one I had not considered old-mo. I personally hate normal car covers for the same reason and use a carcoon - air filled bubble - for my classic Mini.

Tried the trailer old-mo and found it too much of a fiddle both to get on and off, then there is storage. Most of the time, we are on site for one or two days.

When I used to tow a car behind my RV's, even though one had skirt it made no difference Pausim.

Got to say, I always thought these covers where softer inside than normal ones. Best I have a discussion with others on site methinks.

Regards

The Black rigid`ish skirt stops an awful lot...

But make sure it is a couple of inches off the ground...

Don`t half flick little stones up if it`s just touching the road... Trust me...:crying:

Tow bars 4 tow cars do a 'hoody' for the toads. I have one on my i10 and it does the job well. Not cheap though for what they are.

Spoke to tow-bars2tow-cars this morning and ordered a cover.

The inside is soft, so should be OK assuming the car is clean. I keep a 12 litre container of water with pump and spray in the Kia for washing the dog and my boots when we get back from a walk. Should be easy enough to rinse the front of the car if needed before putting it on. The only important thing, is of course, to dry the cover before putting away.

£250 plus vat, but a business purchase so not a problem.

Thanks for all your advice and help.

Photos to follow!

Used the new cover this week on trip to Chester and back.

Had to make a new hole to adapt it for my A Frame.

It was great once fitted and easy to put on and take off.

Don't know why, but I expected it to cover the windscreen, with the ability to pull it down whilst loading it onto the towbar. But it just covers the bonnet.

Anyway, very pleased with it.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi Charlie,

It is excellent and exactly what I needed.

Because mine is the newer model - 2017 onwards - it doesn't fit perfectly under the front valance but no problem there.

I also had to cut a small slit in for the strap that comes out from under the bonnet with my model of A Frame. This is what is used to hold the A Frame in the air.

This and similar are frequently seen on R-V`s in the USA.

Helps keeps Stones and dirt off. Never used one myself I just had the Dirt Skirt. Virtually all Covers will eventually affect the paintwork, due to fretting in motion. I see a lot of caravans with covers using the road to the East Coast, I would almost guarantee most will have minor scratching of the front windows and paint. With the best will in the world you cannot get the items tight enough to stop movement.
