Countrywide Farmers Account - Autogas (1 Viewer)

Hi All

Ive just heard back from Countrywide about getting one of their accounts for LPG / Autogas.

I am currently paying between 53.9p and 62p per litre for Autogas around Shrewsbury. The 53.9p is actually in Telford and requires a 40 mile return journey at £20 in diesel.

Countrywide have confirmed their LPG (Autogas) rate is currently 39.1 plus 5% VAT (domestic use) which works out at 41p per litre. :thumb:

I did explain that the LPG was for use in the RV and not for driving (fuel) use. I guess you could do the same and use it for road fuel and benefit from the 5% VAT rate.

The forum wont allow me to upload the forms they sent to me (they are upto 1748K in size, but I will copy/paste a load of info below.

A couple of days ago I visited their filling site at Burnt Tree Motors in Shrewsbury and found their LPG pump very easy to access with, as they say, no hassle with going in to pay etc etc.

The system is based upon an electronic key that has a programmable chip inside. The chip is then programmed uniquely to the vehicle and allows access to any of the Countrywide Autogas key outlets. There is no cash to pay or queuing in the store to pay for your fuel, as the system automatically bills the user's account providing, in most cases, 24-hour access for refuelling.

The dispenser then records the information and stores it in the console until it is uploaded to the main computer at our Defford site. Once the main computer receives the information it is then collated to the individual’s account.

The invoicing period for fuelling transactions runs from the 1st to the end of the calendar month. On the first working day of the next month, an itemised invoice is produced, detailing the transactions for that period. Any amounts owing will be collected by direct direct debit on the 15th of the month. (Note: any non-direct debit accounts should be settled within 14 days of invoice).

The accounting system is free of charge so there are no set-up fees or account charges and you do not need to purchase the keys.

All that is required is an application form to be filled out and returned to the Defford office. A key will then be programmed to the vehicle and sent out as soon as possible (usually on the day of receipt). As soon as the vehicle key is received it may be used immediately. Detailed filling instructions and a Countrywide key site guide will be included with your key.

Once your account has been set up, you can request additional vehicles or change vehicle registration numbers on your account over the telephone.

i have been using countrywide for just under 2 years now. 100% satisfied. one of my regular fill-ups changed their frontage, making it very hard to get the rv in. i brought this to the attention of countrywide, and within a week the gate had been modified for me! couldn't get any better. wish they were all over the country. as you can see from the list above, mostly south and west of birmingham.

The Ledbury Branch has just quoted me £0.50 per litre, as opposed to the £0.41 you mention.

Does each branch set their own prices?

ALL accounts have to go thru their Defford office (shown below).

Some of the outlets also sell at retail price so that could be your 50p quote.

Be sure to tell them it is for domestic use (5% VAT) and not auto use (17.5% VAT).

I posted my application form to Countrywide on December 27th.

I received my account key and informative booklet (with location directions, times, tel no etc) on December 29th.

I dont know if I'm more impressed with the speed of Countrywide or Royal Mail.

They did send me a voucher giving me £5 of free propane if I recommend someone - so, if you are going to open an account, do me a favour and ask me for the voucher as I could do with the free gas

Only slight issue is that you don't get a receipt after filling-up.

Might be worth keeping a written record of what's going in to tally up with the direct debit.

Not a problem for us as we only fill every month or two, but may be an idea with your LPG conversion.

I used the pump at Bridgend yesterday and the cage had seen better days and was easy to enter without the code.

The vandal had been at the nozzle so made filling a bit of a nightmare.

But i think this system is a great idea and hope to use there Brecon branch regularly:thumb:
