We are leaving early wednesday (03-30 tunnel crossing) for our first continental trip. The idea is to get down to the Costa Blanca area quite quickly and then rest up for a few days before touring around for a couple of months (we start back to work in March). Can anyone recommend a campsite where we are likely to get a pitch without booking.
Thankyou in anticipation.

Villasol... There are advertising pitches for 16.20 euro.
We always go there and never book. From reports on MHz earlier they say it's only about 50 % full.

Currently based on La Merced at Calpe. Weather beautiful and set to stay that way for the forseeable.::bigsmile:
Did a site tour by car 2 days ago for a look see.
Results..............

Calpe.
La Merced. Plenty of spaces tho not ALL in sun. Being a big rig (ish) we couldn't get on a full sun pitch cos that area is pretty packed. We are 1st row into the "tree'd" area but even so, have sun all day through trees.Hightly recomend site if you like rustic and QUIET.:winky:

CalpeMar. Packed and IMHO, like a carpark. Not for me but then we're not all the same and who am I to judge others wants/needs.

New aire at Calpe - ditto with statement for Calpemar only MORE packed! Described by a vanner here on Merced as "like a motorhome sales lot!"

Cap Blanch Packed but a couple of places left in shade.

Almafra. LOTS of pitched left and a deal on the go at the mo. 16E pernight inc 16amp if OVER 30 nights. Might consider there for next year cos the trees/green have grown since last visit and its a bit "softer".

Benisol. Packed. Few spaces left Too "tight" (space) for us

Titus - as above

Villamar. FORGET IT!!! Like a caravan council estate with all permanently fenced in caravans.

Villasol. Nice. Busy but quite a few spaces. Some good sized pitches and would consider it if stuck. Good pool (indoor)and bar.

EL Raco - ABSOLUTELY packed. Saw about 3 spaces for anything bigger than a Romahome!

Camping Benidoem. Not visited but told by my folks that its very tight.

Arena Blanca Ditto as above.

Torreta Some spaces. VERY town centre. Some pitches left that even we would fit on

El Pariso , Villa Joyosa. Quite a few sapces, couple big enough for us, but felt the place a little bit scruffy. Couple of good sized pitches right on sea front but VERY noisy surf on pebble beach. Doubt I could put up with that!

Camping Puig Campana. VERY beautifull site in hills behind Benidorm (long way to shops). VERY peacefull, Red Squirrels, Black Redstarts etc. Few degrees cooler bthan coast which is great for summer but probably not for winter sun seekers.

Thats it for now. All these SOUTH of Calpe. Going NORTH to visit friends at Los Pinos, Denia on Wednesday so will be checking out lots of others and will report.
