Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We have never even been to a show.
Never fancied them.
If we need anything for the motorhome we just go on the internet and find out where to get it from , look for the best price , or ask on here.
Its not that we are antisocial as we love rallies and go with various groups.
So not by going to ANY ever , we must have saved a fortune:ROFLMAO:

We have now got Wanderin Star off pat

We put the marquees there so all the other poor sods could not hear you lot singing! :winky::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Bob.

Lots of practice and we now have wandering star off pat... I have now even invested in a mobile Karaoke to entertain you all next year:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: you you can entertain me or yourself..

We cannot get Rick (motor romin) to sing the right words .. Bill (Landy lover) has it worked out now.. as for me:Blush: I am perfect:Doh:

Other than the long distance to the show enterance, the dung heap, the entertainment tent and the long walk to get the bacon rolls on Sunday.. yes it was a very good meet. MHF wise .. The water presure could have been better, took a long time to fill the tanks, and if someone else down line got the one of the taps open then you could wait for ever.. as a picture Jim took of Stuart and myself at the tap one morning.. All memories:notworthy:

Isn't a show just like a big rally with free add-ons?

Dont know , but i thought they were a big selling fest for various companies , lots of cowboy country western music . Loud generators on 24 /7 because some people cant be off hook up more than a day . :ROFLMAO:
Love meets , and rallies as i said. Love c.l's too.
One thing that does annoy the pants off me is a x sergeant major type person walking about with a clip board trying to organize everyones weekend "at 10 am we shall have coffee , brisk walk at 1pm cake at 4 pm , retire for tea to own mororhomes at 6pm , quiz at 7.30pm bingo 9 pm sharp.:ROFLMAO::Eeek:
Believe it or not , its happened .
When we rebelled did our own thing and got together with 2 other families who were not interested in being organized all day either, going off site to see the surrounding area for the day. We were accused of forming a click. :whatthe:
:ROFLMAO: We left.....

Every thing about the above post sounds like a facts meet:Eeek:
on a fun meet you do as you YOU want, not what others want to do,and show meets are not about buying,i have been to three show meets and bought 1 item at one of the show's ,thats it.
if you have never been, how do you what its like:Doh:

Like you, I do not want to be organised.. I like to do my own thing when I want.

That is what MHF is all about as little or as much as you want to be involved.. OK you have to get use to Mr JIM Brown riding round on a Sunday morning on his bike telling everyonne the bacon rolls are done... seems most make there way to his motor home and pay the £1 for one or more of them.. great they are to.

But as Chris Green has said MHF is not like some groups.. OK you have to be aware that the Yanks (me included) do run our generators, but so do a lot of European motorhomes...

Take for example at Shepton.... EHU is available but expensive, but I do pay for it rather than run the genny. We we doing our own thing, under Bill's Landylovers awning.. the thing was 5 guitars and one Uke.. just mucking about .. nothing set up, just one person turned up then another.. only one and a half can play decent (Yes that half was you Si (Dodgey) .. opps make that 2 1/2 as Gary or Gary and Barb plays a mean guitar.. We had a great time, before we went of to the tent. But we did not have to do either.. jsut the way it turned out on that day at that meet.. Next one totally different. As I mentioned somewhere I was playing bouls at Shepton in the near dark with Rick and Rosie of (Motor Romin) dam hard to find a green jake on the grass.. but nothing planned just happened. Bit like the giant get together BBQ's ppeople just turn up and we have a cook out.. never planned, just whatever happens...

Do try a Funster meet, you migght just be suprised how informal and good it is.

Noooooo..that couldn't be further from the truth!

Funster meets at shows are a great way to have fun and meet great people. There is a degree of necessary low-key organisation to keep things moving along smoothly by dedicated, hard-working and smiley people. I've never felt pressurised into joining in anything I didn't want to do.

The rally field can be a bit of a distance from the show, as at Malvern, but if you don't want to go to it, that's not an issue. However at the Northern Show this year everything was on our doorstep.

Whether you visit the trade stands is up to you; it's amazing how much stuff you didn't know you needed :ROFLMAO: Just keep you hands firmly in your pockets!

The evening entertainment at the Warner shows is, on the whole, very good and FREE (as long as you don't bother booking up for the Saturday night show which is usually pretty lame).

I love the shows and would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our marshalls who do an amazing job!

Hear, hear!

I went to 3 shows this year (Newbury, Malvern, Shepton), and 1 meet (Royal Wedding Weekend) and enjoyed every one of them. :thumb: I was a newbie but was made to feel so welcome by everybody. I'm full of admiration for our marshalls who were cheerfully on duty waiting for new arrivals.

I really enjoyed the free entertainment at Newbury and Malvern (didn't go to it at Shepton), plus it was easy to just drop in at the fun tents and meet whoever was there. I don't find it that easy to socialise with people that I haven't met before (it is harder when you travel solo), but at each meet I'm slowly expanding my circle of friends.

It's all worked really well for me - I can do my own thing when I want to or seek out company when I fancy a natter and a laugh :ROFLMAO:.

So thanks to all of you who have worked so tirelessly marshalling, organising entertainment and dog sitting (Jess would like to thank everybody for all the fuss she's received :roflmto:).

Good to see your imput to the topic.. have you managed to sort that rear door hinge out yet? As you know MHF - funsters are a willing lot and even if it is finding tools or towing someone out of mud, help is always there if you want it.. or you are left alone if you do not want anyone to bother you.

See you next year I suspect at one of the shows.

Regards

Bob.... p.s as you one of thhe nearest to my RV, I am sorry for the noisse of the various guitars and the singing.

[have you managed to sort that rear door hinge out yet?

Thanks Bob, but I actually got it fixed on the way home! I called in at a caravan repairers I'd noticed on the way to the show. Great service - the chap removed my door and cleaned out the hinges. He worked for over an hour and only charged me £35!

My door now closes easily and doesn't put any strain on the frame.

Glad to hear it is fixed.. Capt Puggwash aka Stuart wworked very hard on it I know. Shows what a friendly bunch we are..

regarding the emark made by Janine aa couple posts back.. yes she does have the proof on file... we all plead guilty to the offence of GBH or the ears... I have now purchased a Karaoke unit which can run off my RV's 230v power (via inverter) and we have now over 1,200 songs to chose from, so members will not suffer just Wanderin Star... which I might add went down well when we di the turn at the American RV meet at Oswestry and performed many times since (No one can stop us..even JIM and his big hammer has not prevailed so far:Doh:)..

But that is all part of MHF, joining in and having a good time that I cannot put a price on. But it seems from reading the post we all enjoy the social side, but have questions re the value of the actual shows.
