Hi top
Exp
Since 2017
Could some kind person advise me as to the correct oil to use for my 2021 Fiat Ducato with euro 6 diesel engine automatic? As I understand it’s prudent to carry a few litres for top up as I’m told they can be quite thirsty! TIA 🐟

Good question. I use 0 W-30 ACEA C2 stop start. Interested to find out if that is correct. I have topped with approx 750cc over the last 12 months (just over 11, 000 miles), however, it was serviced during that period so may have negated a further top up.

This is what I use, right or wrong?
Purchased from Trago Mills.

The handbook most likely states Selenia WR FORWARD 0W-30. The full spec is shown below.

I use Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30. This meets the same ACEA C2 spec and Fiat 9.55535-GS1, 9.55535-DS1.

“Its viscosity grade permits to increase the fuel economy characteristics and consequently the reduction of CO2”

That statement says it all to me. It isn’t the oil I would use, but understand many will have warranty so will want to comply, and other will just do as they are told. I prefer an oil that looks after my engine, not the environment for a short time.

If it’s the 2.2 it’s this oil only. If topping up and it’s the no dipstick type only 200ml and leave it until it correctly registers in the dashboard display.

I don't think the 2.2 litre engine was around in 2021. I have a feeling it was 2023 (or late 2022).

Selenium here as well - 2022 2.2 160bhp auto.

Used just under a litre when checked at 5k miles and a minimal amount for the following 10k and counting.

Currently running in our Euro 6 [2019] fully synth 0-w30, but now the lumps got 35k miles on it I will probably switch to a specification meeting 5-w30 full synth when my current stock runs out. P.S. barely adding a drop of oil now between services, and overfilling is not only a PIA, it's not good for the engine.
Mike.

The 2.2-liter Multijet III engine was introduced to the Fiat Ducato in 2021. The 2021 model, called the New Ducato, also included other upgrades, such as a digital instrument panel,

Normally takes about 9 months before they make their way into Motorhomes.

My July 22 is the new 2.2 engine. My friends Sept 21 is the older 2.3. Both Adria Twins

Mines done 8k now and I’ve never added any oil between service

Is the Selenia WR FORWARD 0W-30 or Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30 meeting ACEA C2 spec the correct oil for a 150Hp MultiJet2 2016 Euro 6 X290 with comformatic gearbox ?
How much is needed for an oil change?
Thanks
GErry

Just topped up mine and used the Shell Helix Ultra like above and at the moment it's on offer here, great price.

It does state it's the Fiat equivalent on the advert

Cheers

Bargain price too, just paid £16 for a litre to carry as an emergency top up bottle

Just off the boat from France an oil light came on, quick seach on here and managed to find some Shell Helix 0w 30 as suggested, i put about 300 ml in and drove an hour, just stopped and put the rest of 1L bottle in (£30), will this suffice for now, oil light still on, another 100 odd miles to go

Did you follow the correct procedure to check the oil level after you topped up?

It's only 1L from minimum to maximum.

The Fiat Ducato Series 8 2.2L engine does not have a oil level dip stick.

We are experiencing a number of customers overfilling engines because they do not correctly understand how to check the oil level.

There is a very specific set of conditions that are required to be met to get an accurate reading on the gauge. These conditions are: (Page 265 of your owners manual)

Engine Stopped
The engine must be at operating temperature.
The vehicle must be on level ground.
Wait a minimum of 6 minutes after the engine has been turned off.
Turn the ignition on without starting the engine.
Wait a minimum of 20 seconds before reading the oil level on the gauge.
Engine Running and Idling
The engine must be at operating temperature.
The vehicle must be on level ground.
Idle the engine and wait a minimum of 1 minute before checking the oil level gauge.
If you:
Start the engine accidentally after the 6 minute wait, you will need to wait a further 6 minutes or follow the engine running and idling procedure.
If the vehicle is on a lean or not level, the reading will not be correct.
If the engine is not at operating temperature, the reading will be incorrect.
If you do not get a satisfactory reading, we recommend that you recheck it again before adding any oil.
Understanding the markings on the gauge
The image attached is a simple understanding of what each marking represents.

Understanding the Gauge:
The total volume of oil represented on the gauge is the top (approx.) 1 litres only.
Each segment between the 2 arrows in the picture is about 200ml.
The very bottom segment is on or below minimum.
The very top segment is full or overfull.
Do not:
Do not put more than 1 litre of oil in the engine if the gauge is showing minimum or above.
If the gauge is not reading any level, we recommend that the vehicle gets to an authorized Fiat Professional Dealer to address this issue. This may require the vehicle to be towed.
