Yesterday I noticed (after I had been doing some work on the electrics) that the control panel was showing the battery status as 50%. Earlier in the day it had been on 100% so I checked the 2 leisure batteries. I noticed that the quick release clamp on one of the+ve poles was loose and in fact had broken. I replaced it with a conventional bolt on clamp but the reading was still 50%. Tried resetting the nominal capacity to 190Ahr on the control panel (schaudt? As connected to the Schaudt EBL 101) but this didn't sort it.
I have checked the batteries and they are both reading 13.1v at rest and 14.1v when charging on solar. I checked the fuse between the two positive poles of the batteries (with batteries disconnected ) which are in parallel and it gives zero resistance so I presume is intact.
Any ideas?

The state of charge percentage reading not something that can be instantaneously calculated, like a voltage reading. It is built up over time as the battery goes through its usual daily charge and discharge cycle. The EBL101 counts the amps in and out, building up a history so that after a few cycles it will give a good assessment of how much charge is in the battery, even if the voltage is varying due to loads or charging.

If you disconnect the battery and lose power to the control panel, it loses the history and has to start the counting all over again. It should revert to normal after discharging and charging a few times.

Thanks @autorouter that's very helpful and makes sense -I guess it is worth connecting to EHU for a few hours so that it knows what a full charge 'looks like' and then get the inverter going!

No need to charge the batteries using EHU - by the time the solar panel had done it's work today it was showing 100% charge. Thanks again.

Not long enough!
Might take a couple of days. Ehu might be best to make sure.
Is the panel set up correctly??

Thanks @Theonlysue -seems to be fine now after one day of sunshine. Control panel set up to show 180Ahr nominal which shows as 144Ahr available on the panel when 100% charged.
