Cornwall chaos for G7

It has always struck me that Carbis Bay is the last place I'd want to run a major event, it's way too small and is miles for any major infrastructure.

If they wanted somewhere secure, next to an airport with loads of hotel space and a major convention centre, these are at least 20 other places within the UK that could have done it a lot better.

Carbis Bay is 100 miles from the nearest motorway, 30 miles to the nearest hospital, 50 miles to the nearest airport and the best part of 300 miles/6 hours from Heathrow, where the majority of the delegates will arrive. It's got one supermarket and one decent hotel.

The local press are making out that closing a small rural town is a big deal ....reality is they’d need 10x the police to close down a part of a major city.
They’ve held these G7 conferences many many times before, and the delegates won’t arrive on a scheduled flight into Heathrow!

We know what we’re doing in this country as regards security thanks in great part to our Irish “friends”.... I think they know what they’re doing as regards this conference 😉👍

Well, it really could be much, much worse. It could be up here. I do feel very sorry for you who live nearby.
Not only the security issue but basically they are politicians or hangers on that will be pitching up. How bad is that?

I would have thought the 7 world leaders and their enterages will fly into Newquay not Heathrow and all stay in the one hotel. I’m sure Boris will want the nicely painted voyager parked alongside all the others!
When they had it at the Celtic Manor Hotel there were security fences all around quite a distance out to isolate the venue.
there has been a lot of unusual US air activity, V22 Ospreys and helicopters around Dartmoor all week, wonder if they are practicing?

We were on Malta once when they had one of these. Held in an isolated hotel on the quiet side of the island. Roads blocked for miles around and much easier to secure that way. Plenty of aerial reconnaissance to spot incursions. Makes sense. Everyone in and out by helicopter in minutes.

That will be all of the wild camping spots that are left all around that area gone, the protesters will need somewhere to stay.
