I don't know how they get rated the best in Britain, I'm sure there are much better cheaper places.
Chip shop in Sandwich, Kent does the best fish and chips I have ever tasted, and I've been to Cornwall....twice!

In 1983 I drove from England to Lomé
£62 for fish and chips. :(
I've been away for a few years, but when I was in the Cubs, the chippy next door sold chip portions for 4d and if one was flush, 6p. Scraps were to die for and were free. Lots of vinegar and the lard used to float on the top after eating the chips, waiting to be gulped down.
