Argos have an offer on, 25 % off until tuesday, some people think its really good because of the weight. I am thinking of getting a set for our motorhome. We are trading in our autosleeper symbol for an ih 630rl but dont get it until march. Is there any advantage in getting square rather than round?
Hope someone finds this useful.

We have a set we bought for our last van. Apparently the Correlle stuff should fit in the locker on the IH, check out the owners club I read a post there it also said which set to buy. We are also waiting for our 630 RL date we've been given end of Feb, picked the colours and van spec now we just have to wait. Getting excited!!

We purchase new square plates this year (not Correlle) and we think they fit much better in the cupboard on our van. We like the cool shape for eating from too. The old round plates were a tight fit and slightly more awkward to pack in, and the next size down were too small - the square ones are just the right size.

We got a set at Lincoln and are well pleased with it.
We got a set of 12, 4 dinner plates 4 luncheon plates (much bigger than the side plates) and 4 bowls.
the bowls are small but ok. We went for a round set because we use the microwave a lot and square plates
do not always fit. The mugs we have are fine and the ones in the Correlle set are Stoneware and will break they
are also heavy.

That's something that put us off Corelle as well. The mugs looked similar to ones which sell for about £1 for four in Home Bargains but there was no option of buying a set of plates & dishes without the mugs.

We have square plates/bowls etc from Tesco. They fit much better in the locker than round ones, and are easily replaced if(when) we break any.

Our Luminarc crockery is square as well, so doesn't roll. We looked at Corelle but the bowls are too tiny - hardly room for one Shredded Wheat never mind two :)

Ian Botham could eat 3! Anyway what's stopping you eating one at a time, they don't get soggy that way?

Edit: We go in phases on our cereals, so never noticed the change from 3 to 2 in the packs, I suppose they realised that few folk manage 3.

I read somewhere that it's not possible to make the mugs tough enough, that does not make sense as we have an old asterix the gaul mug from arcopal , it must be 20 years old and still used. Perhaps its more a cost issue.

The Corelle mugs are nothing special & a bit bulky & heavy being stoneware so use plain white porcelain mugs which are light.

We have some as well (though not used much now). The water glasses at school in the 1960s were all Arcoroc and stood up to rough treatment so I don't know what their problem is :)

Try 'the range'
That's where I bought mine from individually. 4 good size bowls ( fit 3 shredded wheat lol) 4 side plates and 6 dinner plates (to allow for breakage)
Approx £20 the lot.

Is that Corelle or Luminarc Sue? Our local branch sometimes has Luminarc in but I've never seen Corelle there.

Had all melamine then read about the toxins that are released when in contact with hot food & liquids :( Thought the cups of tea in my big melamine mug tasted weird but put it down to different water!

It's called Carine, made of OPAL, whatever that is. It's on their website.
Good size plates, very white and modern looking.

They're a bit bright (solid red) but we're still using our Melaware set bought for our trailer tent trip to Norway in 1978. We don't throw anything away.

I had never heard of "the range" and there is one closeby so may well pay a visit and hope they have the carine stuff. Thank you everyone although I am now confused and bewildered.

It's Luminarc :) We have the same but in black. Doesn't half look posh when you have ice cream in the dishes :D

We found that The Range stocks of Luminarc products in general (not just Carine) were a bit haphazard and eventually got ours at the indoor market in Sunderland. I suppose your local branch of The Range would probably order stuff in for you though.

I was told that the Corelle manufacturing process cant do/attach handles to the mugs, hence the (very nice to use) stoneware substitutes.

Carine do mugs so I wonder what the difference between corelle and carine is as the price difference is huge. The carine mugs are made of glass.

I think the Luminarc range (including Carine) are slightly heavier but not all that much. Presumably, therefore, there is a difference in the type of glass used.
