Cool your garage

In Spain just now. Its very pleasant in Rioja but the van still gets warm during the day. Came back today after around 6 hours away and it was 39c in the van. That takes a while to cool but we are getting there. What I've only realised lately is the garage retains loads of heat if you don't get it cool as well. So when you're lying in your bed wondering why it's getting warmer at night it's all that heat from your garage rising. So when you get back and open all the windows don't forget to cool your garage.

just found a setting on truma D6E heater control panel...fan on vent setting 10 blows cool outside air through system...only if its cooler outside though but it did help during heat wave..we have outlet in garage where wine WILL be stored on way back from Spain

Good point and be also have a Alpicool working in there 24/7...in the winter it's nice though as we have heater vents in ours...

just found a setting on truma D6E heater control panel...fan on vent setting 10 blows cool outside air through system...only if its cooler outside though but it did help during heat wave..we have outlet in garage where wine WILL be stored on way back from Spain

Funnily enough we’ve just discovered this on our van too, gave the dog a bit of a breeze when she retreated from the sun - we also put air con on when got really bad -

Me too, the multiplus is mounted on the garage wall and produces quite a lot of heat.

I do not think this is correct.

The Truma Combi D6E recirculates the air already inside your motorhome. It does not draw outside air into the living space.
It works much like a fan heater: Motorhome interior air → Truma intake → heated → blown through ducts → motorhome interior.

There is a separate outside-air circuit, but that’s only for combustion when running on LPG/diesel. The heater draws combustion air from outside and sends the exhaust gases back outside; that air is isolated from the warm-air circuit. If it was not isolated you would have a serious risk of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Truma’s installation instructions specifically describe the combi-heater as a “circulated air intake” from the living compartment.

This remains true in electric mode. The internal air passes over the electric heating elements and is circulated through the motorhome’s warm-air outlets. So the consequence is: running the D6E doesn’t provide ventilation or replace stale/moist interior air with fresh outside air.

The Truma Combi D6E has a ventilation/fan mode that can circulate the motorhome’s interior air without heating it. So you can use it somewhat like a fan: it draws cabin air into the Combi and blows it back out through the warm-air ducting. It doesn’t bring cooler/fresh air in from outside, though.

Blast..thought i had discovered the holy grail..never mind..it did seem to cool the interior down a bit..cheap aircon..doesnt exist..back to "open the skylights dearest"

If it's moving air around the van and you have windows open some of the air is going to leave the van to be replaced with fresh, but recently the air outside wasn't that fresh

We have a small ‘door’ that allows access to garage from van, in the hot weather I have been opening garage tail gate (which is enormous) this door and everything open in living end, if there is any air movement it helps.
The fan Manic put in the washroom roof is also on extract.
Only when we are at van of course!
When we go out everything is closed, all 5 small heiki are on minimum opening with locks, the big main heiki is same and washroom fan is left running, the all blinds are partially shut and van is quite cool when we return, well insulated!

On the 4e it definitely just circulates air inside the van.
