Cool caravans
The International Caravan and Motorhome Show rolls into Birmingham next month and is hoping to prove the mobile home has found its cool. Surfers, young urban families and aspirational professionals, are among the new converts to the caravanning holiday, claim the organisers. The show runs from October 16-21 at the NEC and features hundreds of models from 300 exhibitors, but what does this hip new world of caravanning have to offer? We’ve found three new models you wouldn’t be ashamed to pull.

Airstream 684
Airstream caravans have been crisscrossing North America since the 1930s but the 684 is one of the first to be sold in the UK. Burnished inside and out with aluminium, stainless steel and chrome, prices start from £45,740 at Airstream Europe (01539 624 141, europe.airstream.com). It is 27ft long and weighs 1.7 tons (unladen) so you’ll need something approaching a truck pull it.

Wingamm Micros VW
The shiny Micros motorhome boasts furniture handmade in Italy, a bathroom with shower and a bed that drops from the ceiling. Powered by a 2.5 litre VW diesel engine, the 17ft-long Micros costs £44,889 from www.wingamm.co.uk

KiNG TiKi
For something a little more “bijou”, you need a KiNG TiKi Vintage Trailer. This teardrop-shaped caravan is a mere 8ft long and 4ft wide with just enough room for a double bed and a teeny-tiny kitchen if you request one. Prices start from £4,449 from www.king-tiki.com.
