If it says gas mark 6 on the instructions what does that mean on a mh oven

I’m thinking “on” would be better than “off”.

The only time we had such an oven it literally was as I said “turn it on and take your chances” but we found that, by keeping a close eye on it, it was possible to do a lot more than we expected.

Cooking joints of meat, however, was beyond us, either raw inside or charcoal.

Good luck.

If you're serious about it get an oven thermometer. There are recipes around for cooking whole turkeys (and chickens :)) at very low temperatures. Typically something like 120°C for 5 or 6 hours say then at max temperature for 30 minutes to brown it. I haven't tried this yet but I'm going to have a go soon.

Another vote for getting an internal temperature gauge to hang on a shelf - not that this comment will help for tomorrow.

So I suggest doing exactly the same as last year. Start drinking....now :xgrin:

Aways run our TecTower full blast & double the cooking time.

When I got my van the SMEV oven and grill were pretty hopeless, problem solved by rejetting, they both work a treat now. Old post here - might be the same issue?

Pictures have gone due to the demise of Photobucket, may be able to dig them out if anyone needs them.

I have thought about doing that in the past as this is the 3rd van we have had with the useless TecTower. Problem is I'm fairly certain unless anyone knows different that it means removing the whole TecTower. Domectic don't exactly make serviceable products.
