Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) are undertaking a consultation to better understand motorhome and campervan use in the county, the type of facilities that are valued and how their provision may be improved to benefit the economy, tourism and local communities. The consultation aims to gather views from residents who live in Conwy County and from motorhome and campervan visitors to the area.

The focus of the study is on motorhome and campervan use in Conwy County; all questions relate to this and should be considered in this context. You will be asked if you are a motorhome visitor or a resident in the first question of the survey so that we are able to understand your perspective on the current situation.

Likewise, it’s good to see a local welsh council enquiring about The possibilities of Establishing Aires in their Community,

Didn't they do something similar for Gwynedd earlier in the year, I recall filling in a similar survey and after it finished they announced a trial was to start. 👍

Yes they are still at it.

Conwy has some prime spots that are suitable for responsible mh owners that can benefit the local economy too out and in season.

I have lots of spots I stay throughout winter spring.

In the final remarks box, I've stressed the positive view taken of such provision by local Mairie in supporting their village businesses.

Done, as a local resident

My view is that the biggest problem is not from responsible motorhomers, but from “van life” campers without their own toilet etc. It is disgusting as a resident to come across human sh*t on my local walks.

I am concerned that any overnight aire provision should be limited to motorhomes / vans with facilities and that this should actually be checked / enforced (otherwise it is just ignored!)

I agree .
Where abouts are you seeing this type of behaviour

Any of the parking spots near the beaches (Conwy Beacons car park in particular - the bushes near the parking areas are now a health hazard, and the smell is awful). Also the long stay car park in Conwy town (overnight stays not allowed but always a few parked there overnight)

Thats ashame about the beacons..is this the one without height barriers.
Mind you t5s can fit under the one with barriers too.

I used to spend quite a lot of nights there but not been in 12 months (since the roadwork guys had been there)although I must say I never seen this.

I was at pensarn beach last week as the barrier had been busted...and one fella told me 2 van lads were doing THAT...next to the sea wall???... I mean comon there are toilets 300yds away..

Also filled it in and as an ex resident recommended the conversion of the large coach park on Mostyn Broadway to an aire along with West Shore car park. The coach park was built in the 1950s when there was massive coach traffic, it's rare to see more than 4 coaches in there in high season now. Mostyn Estates will probably veto the idea however.

Done, just wish the neanderthals at Wirral council had done the same before spending all the money on repetitive signs telling motorhomes they couldn't park overnight and then certain area's they could park if phoned up first to register and pay £20. No facilities, they are a joke.

We shoul

We should have something like this. The Kiwis have it and members display a number that the authorities can check.

Oh look yet another thread turning into let's attack campervan owners and keep things for the motorhome elite only.
Many campervan owners like us due have facilities just not fixed ones and manage just fine.
If the NZ standard is seen as the way to do then that's us out the game for a start.
Some workable way surely can be found without excluding all levels of van owners.
Or maybe that's the whole idea over night parking "none daily hate readers need not apply"

If you have appropriate facilties then you wont have a problem. Plenty of Pvcs and even some converted people carriers with acreditation in NZ . Surely none of us want to stop at places where people are defecating in the bushes? If anything having the sticker would demonstrate that you do have a toilet.

Even a basic van can have a porta potty fitted so would comply to have own sanitation,
I carry two holding tanks in case they are needed, I have come across dumped toilet waste in my travel, very unpleasant to say the least,
being self contained in a Motorhome/ camper/ van is to my mind the number one priority, and as much as I hate new regulations on camping it should be enforced to make the small minority that dump face the consequences of their actions,
in New Zealand practically every town has a dumping point, well documented locations that anyone can use,
it would be helpful if local councils adopted something similar ,
