Hi All

I hope someone can help.
When I drove the van back from storage today the control panel cover came loose. I pushed it back in but the black knob that selects the various options no longer works! If I take the knob off then I can use the pin underneath (hope that makes sense).

see pics attached

thanks and a Merry Christmas

The knob is worn out.
ie, the serrations inside the knob that grip the pin have worn away.
Try leisure spares for a replacement.

In the meantime put a bit of paper on the pin and push the knob on and it should be able to turn, it may take a few try’s and different pieces of paper to pack it out...

Thanks for your help seems odd it was working fine one minute then gone the next.

Had a quick look on Leisure Spare but not sure what the description would be. I’ll try packing some paper to get by.

Do you think this would be a Pilote part?

Schaudt ? LT71 control panel, usually in with the EBL manual.

Superglue...... Put some inside the knob splines and press it back on.

Front cover coming off won't make any difference to the knob, the rotary switch is held by the two screws.
Chances are the hole part of the knob has split allowing it to rotate on the splined shaft.

Thanks everyone I think I’ll try the super glue option! :xgrin:
If that fails I’ll dig out the manual and order a new knob!

Before you glue it make sure it's working if you turn it with your fingers or a pair of pliers.

Will have to include in my tool kit.

Looking at a 2016 P716 as my first van and looks in great condition. Only fly in the ointment is the control knob is missing from the LT71 panel. So may need to find a replacement.

Ha ha no it’s not ours!!
We were very happy with the model and only swapped it in because we wanted a double at the back and pull down double over the cab.
There are few who complain re problems with electric drop down bed but we didn’t have any issues.
Might want to check it has a new cam belt fitted as these need to be changed every 5 years so would have been due 2021.
We really like the Pilote brand I think you get quite a bit for a reasonable price.

Hi AG2602
Pity as could have had a good chat about it.
Yep checked and timing belt and water pump done last year.

Also has gaslow already installed. Has the alde heating and rear air suspension. Updated to 3850 kg.

Seems to tick all the boxes.
Will arrange to go and view it this week.

Both the boss and I were very impressed with the Pilote first time we sat in one. The front lounge is very impressive and sociable which to us just seems right.

Looked at many others but keep returning to either this or the P710. Just not many of either ever available and when they come up they sell very quickly.

Fingers crossed it is right for us to buy and finally get our first van.

I’m sure you’ll be happy with the quality.
I did just think of one thing we didn’t like. If you are watching TV and using the drivers/passenger seats (swiveled) then if using the drivers seat you can put your feet up on the bench seat opposite. If you are in the passenger seat you can’t put your feet up as there is a wall.

Just a small thing but worth mentioning if you like to lounge!👍

Went for an A Class Pilote G740 similar in length but roomier inside particularly bathroom area. The lounge is actually slightly smaller but there’s just the two of us so works well.

Very nice indeed. Another Pilote, so you must be very happy with them ?

How do you find the washroom spread across the van as an effective en-suite.

Fingers crossed this one works out for me and I manage to secure it. Will let you know.

Update on this. Just heard back from the repair place and they say it needs the whole unit replacing as the “knob” shouldn’t be separating from the selector spindle. Not separately available.
Rough cost is £400

Yikes.

Did you try both of them to see if you get the same answer? If they do I'd check the spindle works, check that the hole where the spindle goes isn't cracked then get the glue out.
