20160812_170716.jpg I've found a control box behind the drivers seat and the bench seat with a red light on constantly.
Can anyone tell me what it is and what's is used for and why the light is on even on 12 volt.?
We've looked through the manual but cannot find a reference to it, we only got the van 3 weeks ago.
    It's an Autotrail Cheyenne. 09.

    Photo? Model number?
Could be numerous things - CO detector, solar regulator, etc etc

I seem to remember this coming up before. It's a device made by Sargent and I think it was for controlling the electric steps.

Just seen your close up photo. It looks like the controller for the electric "stuff" in the moho. An email to Sargent should sort you out a manual :)

Its just a fuse box I think with a bit of added functionality for the step and awning light. The red light will just show there is power in the system. Seems unnecessarily complicated to me! :)

Yes I agree, why make things complicated, too much to go wrong.

    No
Is just the colour, it's a brown fuse.

Is there a 12 volt "power" switch somewhere? By that I mean, a switch which cuts off the 12 volt system. If there is and you switch it off I expect the red light will go out. However, I don't think there is anything to worry about and the red light doesn't indicate a fault somewhere I think - but I am no expert at all on Sargent systems so don't listen to me if someone who does comes on and expresses a different opinion :)

Its an interface between base vehicle electrics/electronics and habitation electrics/electronics, all 12 volt stuff of course. It controls, among other things, split charging, auto step retraction and 12 volt fridge operation.

It's a real time red light functionality monitor.

If the red light is on it means the red light is working.
