Were off the france early on Thursday, and I have been let down by kwik fit who should of fitted them first thing Tuesday morning. I have been told by other fitters that to get some continental camper tyres it will take a couple of days which will be pushing it.so I thought ask the good people on here.has anyone had tyres fitted around the Dunkirk area.there is 2mm of tread on them but I don't want to chance anything were off to the south of france.

tyres are alot more expensive abroad. best get them here in uk , batteries as well. in fact many carparts are dearer in the mainland europe .

Thanks for your replies. It seems I am running out of time in the U.K.,so it's cancel the trip or find new tyres once were there. Only need 2for the front. I've allowed a couple of days to get to the south of france. so I was hoping some one had bought tyres or know of a company near the port or surrounding area.

Probably not a lot of use to you now but when I couldn't get Continentals 18months ago, I found a UK company (via Google) who had a depot in Germany. They couriered 2 tyres direct to me in 2 working days - carriage free. They were also MUCH cheaper than I'd been quoted by several UK tyre suppliers.

Sorry can't find the name.

I have just been quoted today 140 euros each for Continental 225/70x15 vanco 100 112r tyres here in Spain 24 hr delivery but the supply said very limited choice ie Michelin

I have never yet been able to buy more than one tyre straight from a depot in the Limoges area. I have normally had to order them with a 2 / 3 day delay.

Have you tried googling for your tyre spec in france, e-bay, amazon, or one of the big distributors?

J

Thanks for all your replies , I'll try googling a tyre fitter and see if can order some for when we arrive .this is what happens when you leave it until the last minute and expect kwik fit to be honest when they say they have them in stock.lesson learnt.

just fit the right size tyre forget using a continental.
these days i find some of the chinese tyres brilliant and cheap.
fitted 6 on my truck only just before i went away last year.
quiet and grippy and hardly showing wear.

Just sent you a PM.

Including valves and balancing I paid €175 for one tyre in France 18 months ago after trying four large 'Continental' tyre depots. 15" Vancocamper tyres were not as easy to find as I expected.

Check on Notauto on the net. We got ours there for the van . Good price and very quick. Have used other major firms here over the time we have lived here. Didn't think expensive but best to shop around. Try Feu Vert too maybe .

Try http://www.123pneus.fr/ you can order from them to a fitting station of your choice in France. The fitting stations are listed on their website so you could choose a station somewhere on route.
Vanco 2's 215/70 R15 C109/107S are €107 plus fitting.
Michelin Agilis in same size are €112.80 plus fitting. Both come with free delivery.

Good luck.

Thanks elamessa I have managed to get hold of some from pneus and are having them fitted on route to grimaud at a place called Macon just off the a6.
Just looking for a stop over around this area.

http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm Try this site they have a few aires/sites in and around Mâcon.
Open the link and click on the big Camping car sign. On the new page click on 'chercher/ajouter une aire' on the left hand column on the next page scroll down to 'FRANCE' you will then get a map of France and then click on department 71 (Saône et Loire) you can then see all the aires/sites in that department. Mâcon is toward the bottom of the map.
Good luck.

We stayed at Pruzilly aire last year, just up the hill from Macon.Very quiet and great views.
