Hi everyone,

I recently purchased and fitted a new C250 cassette holding tank in the toilet of my Autotrail Scout. Unfortunately the red light on the toilet control panel now flashes constantly indicating that it is not fitted correctly. Everything works as it should with no leaks or any other malfunction. If I put the old cassette back in the flashing stops. Any ideas on what is going wrong?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know the red light is not an indicator for ill-fitting but to warn of the cassette being full.

As Brian has said, chances are the float is stuck up or something similar ( had an incident last year when the float was actually missing from a new cassette !

Agree with Jaws - ours flashes to indicate nearly full so assuming it ain't nearly full due to being new, then something is probably jammed.

The float has a magnet in it that activates a reed switch when it has risen to the full position, as others have said, open the flap and check you have a float and that it's free to pivot up and down.

More than toes wet now!
Been told that some Thetford new cassettes have the float retained in the "full" position to minimise risk of damage in distribution transit (when they're not necessarily always in the "This way up" position!).

GO ON... GET YOUR HAND IN THERE... !!! :)

My old cassette in a previous van, the float often fell off and was rattling about in there.. A bugger to clip back on and not a nice job but needs must...

Very many thanks to all who answered and congratulations - you were correct. When I investigated there was no float mechanism in the replacement cassette. A call to the suppliers on Monday is required I think.
