We've been deliberating whether we should get a Cadac Safari Chef 2. Lots of people on here rate them and so we were looking at how we would use it and why. It would certainly get the heat and smells out of the motorhome but......Our meals are generally based around spuds, pasta or rice, a mixture of veg and some sort of meat. So we can do the meat on the Cadac but we would still have to do the rest on the hob inside, or do things one at a time on the Cadac and therefore bits cool down. How do others handle all this? Do they modify their menu so it's all stir fry? We are not great bbq'ers but like the idea of cooking outside especially during hot weather but not sure if a Cadac would fulfil our needs. We don't have space (or payload!) for anything larger.

I got a Cadac and just about all the accessories. It's all surprisingly heavy, so just get what you're sure you'll need. I cab't guide you there. Although the Cadac was well-travelled, it turned out to be little-used.

Heavy, Cumbersome over rated...

There are better on the market...
Examples please. And with the same footprint as I'm limited on storage space. I thought they were only 4kg.

The Cobb is a versatile BBQ, compact and lighter. I don't know about the new gas-fired ones but the charcoal ones might appeal.

The Cobb is far more than just a charcoal BBQ

Barbequeing is probably the least of its strengths.

We never BBQ on ours.

I would just get one of those camping Gas cookers with the little bottles of butane. I can't see what the Cadac does in addition to it except being a pig to clean.

Not just meats, stir fries, breakfasts and veggies too.
Good little bit of kit.
We try not to cook much at all if we can eat out.
We don't go out in the van to be tied to a cooker, we can do that at home.
Cooking in the van is pure necessity, not "part of the experience".

Cadac Safari Chef 2 is neither cumbersome nor heavy - very compact and weighs less than 4kg (as to over rated that of course is a personal opinion) :D2

However you just might be confusing it with the Cadac Carri Chef 2 which IMO is cumbersome and weighs 12 kg :cautious:

Oh no, now you've done it, you've mentioned the "C" BBQ related word, @chaser will be along soon to put you right... ;):)

We have the Cadac Grillogas and it works very well for us.

We have a Cadac Safari chef but since we bought the Florabest the Cadac is redundant. Florabest is a proper bbq and cooks on charcoal , is light and compact, just right for two (y)

You must of had a duff as ours just wipes clean with it's non stick finish.

I can't remember now to be honest. I had this huge bloody thing we used to bring along with us. The BBQ was a disaster and took ages to clean.

I ( gladly) gave it away on here.

Are we really talking about the same BBQ ?, packed away 13" diameter by 7" high

View attachment 180469

I don't know to be honest. I had a Cadac about 7 years ago that was much bigger and cumbersome than that one.

Having said that, I don't really see the need for one.

Just my opinion obviously
