Pembrokeshire roads aren't the best or straightest and at this time of year are rather busy, but there really are some inconsiderate plonkers about. Last week, on my way towards Carmarthen, I ended up in a queue of 43 vehicles behind a horse box/lorry travelling at about 30 - 35 mph. There were plenty of places for her (yes, it was a 'her') to pull over to let vehicles pass, but she went out of her way to make it awkward for anyone to pass. This continued for 8 miles on an A class road - the A40. People began to take risks as they became impatient.
Today, on the same road, returning home, a VW camper doing the same sort of speed was holding up traffic - I counted some 13 between me and him and there were more behind me.
I wasn't in a hurry so it didn't bother me particularly, but again, it was other impatient drivers taking chances that could have caused a serious accident.
When I had my old Merc Chieftain, not the fastest of machines, if I got more than 2 or 3 cars etc. following me for any length of time I'd pull in or slow down to let them pass as I'm sure most funsters would do. The above are classic examples why some people refer to caravans and campers as 'mobile chicanes'.
Rant over. Can't wait for G&T time. :thumb:
