Hi

Another question for the technical funsters!

I have a matched pair of 130ah batteries connected in parallel as advised on another thread I have positive from van charger going to positive on battery a and negative going to negative of battery b.

However my local approved workshop fitted a 150w solar panel last week and they have both positive and negative from controller going to battery a, surely it should be access both batteries is to negative of other battery so to speak? This will then treat the pair as one large battery?

Your advice would be appreciated!

Which is the way I have always connected them without any problem .

Bloody autocorrect on this tablet! Sorry!

Should read "across both batteries ie to negative of other battery"

Sorry but then again I am Welsh!

As the batteries are in parallel it makes no difference whether it is connected to one or both.

I think it technically better to connect to +ve of one battery and -ve of the other, to negate any resistance in the parallel connection. However, that would be splitting hairs.

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
Technically, it should be pos of one and neg of the other. But with only a few amps from the panel, as @hilldweller says, I very much doubt you would see the difference.

many many years! since I was a kid
if the batteries are side by side with a substantial size link cable, there is no electrical difference between the 2 posts. the theoretical difference in resistance only comes into play if the batteries are some distance apart linked by an undersized cable
