When we are abroad we use either our mifi or tethered phone together with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A to watch the occasional programme on BBC iPlayer etc

I believe there is a cable that I can use to hardwire the Tablet to the HDMI port on the TV in the motor home. ( it is a basic tv so cannot use Bluetooth etc.but it does have a HDMI port)

Is this the sort of cable I need? The ad says they are just plug & play, are they that simple? Anyone use them?

Believe that I used a mini usb to HDMI cable when I used the Samsung tablet.

it will work if you have a usb port on the tv too in order to power the adapter

otherwise plug a google chromecast to the tv and link the tablet via wifi

I tried casting using a Firestick found it very flakey and sound out of sink. I think a cable is a better option.

The TAB A will not work with a cable ,, It needs to support MHL and that model does not have it.....
My tablet is the same and remember looking into this some time ago...

A chromecast will do the job and you will need Google home app. See youtube..

@namwaldog. I used an HDMi to a mini HDMI cable when using the Android tablet to view TV in Spain earlier this year, however, it's not a Galaxy.

Even using a VPN, I couldn't use the BBC iPlayer, but could ITV's, Channel 4's & 5's equivalent software for catchup.
I also used the Catchup TV App with success, and this year I will try Modbro and Servio Apps, to gauge which is best.

Good luck. (y)

I've pondered this question as well but could not get a definitive answer. My wife has an ipad so we went down that route instead. However I was not prepared to pay the £47 for the Apple adapter. I popped into one of those ever growing mobile phone repair/accessory shops, asked the question and was sold a product that does the job for £20. Works well.
